Just Me, Half a Love Song and An Idiopathic Itch

 

Sometimes I get the urge

to write a love song,

or maybe just a poem ..

Not that a poem

would likely be any less

grand, or meaningful ..

So please,

don’t get me wrong on

that score Babe ..

It’s just they do tend to

get more airtime

these days, don’t you

think darling ..

And anyway, who do

you know who ever got

rich writing poetry ..

And who the hell fucks

while trying

to get their head round

one these days ..

Okay, so I know we used

to and often,

but hey, would you ever

believe I still pray

we might again someday ..

In the meantime,

more recently, I get such

an intense urge

to write a love song

that if ignored feels like

some kind

of idiopathic itch ..

Which gets worse if I try

to ignore it,

or if I don’t manage to

scratch and make it bleed ..

Still, when that’s

all over and done with,

I shall undoubtedly feel

whole, complete

and so very well healed ..

                  This seemed indeed a love song Neville. But then I think of all poems as a love song to the reader. Maybe not sexual but romantic none the less or the reader would loose interest and drift away. I hear the romantic side of you and that is good.
