All Along the Watchtower

Neville

All Along the Watchtower

   Yesterday was one of those

let’s drink

   the bottle dry days ..

The brakes

had well and truly gone ..

There was no

right or wrong, a surefire

   all or nothing day ..

Then it hit me and it hit me

   so damned hard ..

Who in this cruel and crazy

fucked up world

of ours, is more confined ..

The inmates or

the puffed up prison guards ..

To guard the ungodly , does it require us to sell our soul. I might give different answers depending on the day but I love the way you succinctly apprised the question and suggested the hidden price. When I grow up I’m gonna tell people I know you.

"I said in my heart concerning the state of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts."

Memories of the past, so I won't mention him but what of Jimi Hendrix it was a nice cover. As for the prison guards I worked as an intern for a year in a prison in California and the guards had a morticians sense of humor. A fun read Neville loved it.

absolutely, JH's version for many is more memorable than the original .. I like em both .. and as far as prison guard humour is concerned I'm sure you know what you are talking about on that score ..thanks for stopping by my friend ..

Your words made me think of the phrase, the lunatics are running the asylum. The brakes have well and truly gone in our messed up country at the mo. I like both versions of your title, but it’s the JH one I recall most. Written by Dylan. Was it about Vietnam. Lucky you in November. Have a good Wednesday Neville.

True words Neville, who indeed holds responsibility for the chaos in our world.
