When there’s need, for thirst to quash,
then gulp down, blackcurrant squash,
let fruity water, be a friend,
give it title: “the world’s blend!”
For a cup of tea, has aftertaste,
such sourness, that Empire chased,
and a coffee mug, gives off stench,
tastes like business; cannot quench,
nine pints of beer, cannot sate,
spewed up kebab’s, upon the plate,
and any other kind of booze,
could be the cause of cuts and bruise,
milk does have good quality,
yet, there is lactose quandary,
and every type of energy drink,
really brings the fuel to sink,
gym made smoothies, we do know,
but we eat veggies, that do grow,
the sap and nectar, in the trees,
we should leave, for the bees,
this is no ad, you could’ve skipped,
but you’ve read, what I’ve dripped,
my solution, my mouthwash,
here I drink, blackcurrant squash!

- Comment from author about the poem: I thought I would brighten the mood from the recent poignant and gloomy poems; by writing this one. Of all the drinks to choose from in the world, blackcurrant squash has to be up there, if not, the number one spot, for me. It is technically one of your "five a day" and it tastes delicious. Even whilst writing this, I have been sipping it's tasty goodness, which has aided me to complete, what I hope is an entertaining and somewhat thought provoking read. (The attached photograph above: some of the lovely stuff, ironically poured in a Branston Beer Festival pint pot!) The banner picture, though of pink flowers, was the closest thing I could find on here, to visually represent the colour, of the beautiful mixture of both water and blackcurrant. We all have our choices on what to imbibe, but to me, I think that blackcurrant squash is one of the correct ones! I hope that you enjoy the poem, happy drinking, whatever you have in the glass, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

A delicious write. Nicely done.
Thanks for the read and for you "tasty" comment sorenbarrett.
I hope that all is well.
How "Cordial' of you dear poet. I had to google Blackcurrent Squash, and alas, we cannot partake of this wonderful elixer in the USA. So I will be happy for you in your reverie, it certainly inspired a juicy and delectable poem.
Thanks for the read and for your "sweet" comment Bella.
Yeah, after scanning through a few YouTube videos recently; that highlight the differences between the daily routine of the UK and the US, I was shocked to find out, that no blackcurrant exists in the US. So, with what you've said, and as a toast to you, I will drink a glass of blackcurrant for you. Or if I can find a can of La Croix, I will taste a little of the USA.
Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.
Excellent write
Thanks for the read and for your short and sweet comment Tony36.
I hope that all is well.
You're welcome
Mary drinks a lot of blackcurrent squash Ben and thoroughly enjoys it.
Andy
Thanks for the read Andy, and good for Mary, I shall raise a glass to her.
In my opinion Robinson's is the superlative brand, but that's not to say that I don't enjoy them all.
Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.
Very nicely done, when I was a child, my mother and father would take me to east lane a market in south London, there was a stool that serves hot raspberry juice it had a name that I cannot remember, you brought back some childhood moments with this thank you. 🌹
Thanks for the read and for your lovely comments Teddy.15, and I'm glad that I brought back some wonderful childhood memories.
To answer your implied question, regarding the raspberry juice. Robinson's who are best known for their Apple and Blackcurrant juice, are also known for their Summer Fruits drink, as well as their raspberry and rhubarb cordial too, that could be what you are after.
I hope that all is well.
For some reason currants (not the little raisins but the fruit) have never caught on here in the states... but I do see them in specialty markets sometimes. Next time I see them, I am gonna pop them into a blender and join you.
Thanks for the read jarcher54, and if you do see any blackcurrants, I look forward to us drinking the good stuff together in spirit.
Also, to advise you on getting the ratio right, mix one third blackcurrant and two thirds water, that should do the trick.
Thanks again and I hope that all is well.
