The vulture a noble beast
as a garbage collector it does feast on deceased
It carries an ignoble name
historically cloaked in shame
Noncombative it flees
eating flesh and bones keeping us from disease
Head of red a social bird
A lifetime mate is preferred
A better parent no other
Egyptian epitome of a mother

I'd say a quite brilliant rap(tor) I actually rapped it, a very powerful ending. Most entertaining dear sorrenbarret 🌹
Thanks Teddy thought it was time for something different. I saw one soaring outside yesterday and when it came to sit on my roof I thought, why not. Appreciate the read and comment friend.
As one argument for Nature to be left to sort itself, without mankind’s intervention, this is one step towards a greater understanding, Soren.
Thanks Dave The Peruvian government actually puts cameras on vultures to see where people illegally dump garbage. Thanks for the read and comment my friend.
Well that put the brakes on, as I had to go investigate more information. Thanks for that, Soren. Cannot ever stop learning.
Good write SB. Yes, so there's method in my madness of feeding sewage to KP. Well, as you say here, it keeps others free from disease. heehee.
Thanks Orchi for the read and yes keep Fido away from those scraps
I feed Fido roast chicken, fresh lamb, expensive dog food, etc, and scraps to KP. lol.
Being both a bit of a horneythologist and a nortyculturist .. I know a thing or two about raptors, including Egyptian Vultures ..
When I was working in Africa a few years back one fell out of the sky and just missed me .. I think it may have had a heart attack .. I know that I nearly did .. Let's call that a rap for now eh' .. Neville
Glad it missed you maybe it just got sick on something it ate. Thanks for the read Neville
You are most welcome .. as an aside, it .. the bird in question got eaten by dogs within minutes ..
I see them in the neighborhood, and marvel as they soar just as beautifully as an eagle. You raise them up in lovely verse. Such a good write!
Yes they do soar Bella they are recorded as the highest flying bird at 37,000 feet. Thanks for the read and comment. It is most appreciated. I constantly scan to see when your next poem will be out.
Great rhythm.
Thanks Thomas appreciate it.
I love your list or at least my imagined view of it. First I imagine a question for a survey. Now this is not a commentary or judgement , it’s a survey to present just a raw number and observation of contrast
A thousand people asked one question.
“Do you regularly think of paying tribute and listing positive attributes of vultures in a poem?” The contrast without comment is that if surveyed your answer would be yes.
Thanks Bobby my answers to surveys have always been atypical. Being basically antisocial I have to go against the current. Appreciate the comment Bobby. Yes I can't stand doing the same type of poem all the time.
I’m a big fan. I’ll ask just once more
Might you have had a chance to look at that video. It’s the first poem I ever wrote. Took me six years it would be cool if you view it?
I saw one of yours not sure if it was the one give me the name and location I'll look
I’ll send a YouTube link.

You know vultures get bad press. For the first time Soren I am looking at them in a different light, after reading your poem. Normally they give me the creeps. All the best.
Thanks so much Cassie for the read and comment. All garbage men get bad press. They serve an important role. Besides Cassie the poem has a bit of a metaphor in it. I appreciate your comment.

Thanks Thad your comments are appreciated. Thanks for the read.
I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to all the flying birds in Middle-Heaven, "Come to the Great Supper of God! Feast on the flesh of kings, captains and champions, horses and their riders. Eat your fill of them all- free and slave, small and great!"
For wheresoever the carcass is, there the vultures will gather.
Indeed they do. Thanks for the read and comment it is valued.
Well deserved praise for the subject and the author. nice.
