Canal Cyanide.

Goldfinch60

How can it happen?

How can they spill cyanide,

Spill it into a canal.

The company should be stopped,

Stopped from using it,

Stopped from using cyanide.

Then there are the statements,

Statements from so called experts

Saying if you have certain symptoms

You may be affected,

Affected by this lethal poison.

Many years ago canisters of cyanide

Were dropped off a ship accidentally,

When the expert was asked,

Asked what the symptoms were,

The symptoms of cyanide poisoning

He came up the one word,

The one word that tells of the symptoms.

He was asked:

“What are the symptoms of cyanide poisoning?”

He replied “DEATH!”

  • Comment from author about the poem: I used to be a chemist and occasionally came in contact with cyanide in our work, we had strict rules when we came in contact and a specialist first aid system that had to be use within thirty seconds if we got it onto ourselves. Luckily it never happened. I just cannot understand why they are not saying how dangerous cyanide is!

How very topical .. how very true .. death is not a symptom .. it is a sign .. so obviously an expert .. NOT

    • Goldfinch60

No death is not a symptom as there are none if you are poisoned by cyanide.

I heard it on the news last night. If sewage wasn’t bad enough, now it!s cyanide. Are they deliberately trying to kill us off I wonder? Mind blowing how our waters are being polluted. All that wild life poisoned. Makes me want to weep. Good morning Andy.

      • Goldfinch60

Yes it certainly seems that nobody cares for us any more Cassie, it is so sad that this type of thing can happen.

Mr Finch, thanks for this. I didn’t now anything about it.

        • Goldfinch60

My pleasure Bobby, it has happened in a canal in the UK.

Is this a metaphor Gold of pollution overall and the lack of respect for nature and even ourselves that we have? Yes cyanide is just the tip of he iceberg. Nicely written

          • Goldfinch60

No it is not a metaphor soren, although it could be, this actually happened in the UK.

            Andy

Just go for a stroll by your river Andy and all will be well....😇

So assuming my research has located the same incident (unlikely to be more than one at any one time) how far is the Walsall canal from you, Andy? I hope you and Mary are not in any personal danger, although in the big bad world out there......

              • Goldfinch60

I certainly hope so Dave, it was OK yesterday when we walked by it.

                Andy

                • Goldfinch60

It is just under 50 miles away from us so Mary and IO are OK at the moment, thank you for your concern Dave, much appreciated.

                  Andy

                  • Doggerel Dave

                    That's OK, Andy

Also I was a little stunned and amazed, as I don't think I've ever seen you even mildly annoyed before.....

                    • Goldfinch60

Not very often am I annoyed Dave but they seem to be playing this danger down so much.

                      Andy

Outside of this place, my fellow humans rarely fail to disappoint me. Poisoned water, poisoned ocean, poisoned future. Maybe we are wrong.

                      • Goldfinch60

So true Dan, maybe they are trying to get rid of us all.

                        Andy

Though the content of your poem is of an utmost disgustingness, this serves as a wonderfully written reminder, of the miscarriage of decent practice by big companies, we are supposed to trust.

How can we bathe in, or drink the water, that has been so mistreated eh!?

Bravo, and I hope that all is well.

                        • Goldfinch60

Thank you Ben, it is so true companies just do not care who or what they harm nowadays.

                          Andy

                          • AuburnScribbler

You are welcome Andy, and let us hope, that all that chooses to hurt can relearn to care!
