CLOSE OF DAY
Inside a darkened airless room
where faded drapes deny the sun
her fingers resting on a book
she sits with feeble memories
of fading rainbows afterglow.
.
Reaching for a china cup
with chips and stains, she sips her tea
her bottle glasses on her lap
her solace found in dull routine
as symphonies of dusk play slow.

Beautifully composed dear Michael, yes a sad one but poetry is everything every type of emotion your art is superb. 🌹
Thanks Teddy - it takes so much longer writing these pieces compared to the whimsicals .
A painting in words beautiful and set with a dusty feeling of having been there. Very nice
Thanks s - pleased you like it (them).
A fine write and pic M.
Is this about Miss Berles?
Miss Haversham more likely.
No - its about her sister - Miss Trophe.
Great to see the pastoral theme back again Michael, but I do like the other stuff too.
Sad but enjoyable write.
Cheers DD
For a moment I thought you'd been spying on me! Deeply pictorial, you can see and hear the chipped china rattling the saucer. A real treat today!
Thanks J - pleased you enjoyed it.
One can feel the sadness in this scene you have painted in words. The loneliness came through to me with.
"Feeble memories of fading rainbows" and "Solace found in dull routine." A most enjoyable read. _ Phil A.
Thanks Phil - yes one of my sombre ones.
Sounds to me like you might just be in love. Nice work.
Cheers Dan
