Growth leads to increased productivity
Increased productivity leads to corporate
Corporate leads to cheap labor force
Cheap labor force leads to outsourcing jobs
Outsourcing jobs leads to increased profit
Increased profit leads to bottom line
Bottom line leads to dividends
Dividends lead to shareholders
Shareholders lead to wealth in the hands of the few
Wealth in the hands of the few leads to greed
Greed leads to shrinking middle class
Shrinking middle class leads to joblessness
Joblessness leads to poverty
Poverty leads to homelessnesss
Homelessness leads to despair
Despair leads to hopelessness
Hopelessness leads to disillusionment
Disillusionment leads to division
Division leads to anger
Anger leads to violence
And so the monster must be fed
Where did we go wrong?

Because of greed. Capitalists have used the concept of minimal regulation as an excuse to exploit labor and avoid competition. They distort Adam Smith's views which were more nuanced on regulation and protection than he is credited for giving. Some people use economics like some use the Bible, cherry pick what supports their point of view. Excellent write.
So well said my friend, I love your viewpoint. Thank you so much for your insightful comment.
YW
Excellent write
Greatly appreciated my friend!
You're welcome
That was effort well expended (my small suggestion, I mean! 🙂)
Bella that is great! Should give everyone pause for thought – the structure which really forms our lives in so many ways.
You were the inspiration, and I am so very grateful for your encouragement my dear friend!! Take good care
Greed - of all the roots of evil, one of too many self-centered ego minded fools.
How true my friend, we must be vigilant. Thank you so much for your comment.
So you are the one who's been reading my mail! Bravo!
Now I can't confess to that, but you might want to keep a closer eye on your mailbox, lol. I do appreciate you reading this poem and your comment.
So very true Bella, those who work hard always seem to lose out in the end.
Andy
Thank you Andy. We could hope and pray for a better day, but it's going to take all of us working together to make that happen. Take care my friend!
A fine write Bella.
I appreciate this comment coming from a fine fellow. Thank you Orchi!
I'm not 'into' these suspicious people though, who find conspiracy in just about anything, e.g. KP was first person on the moon. So it did actually happen. She said it's made of botox. heehee.
I agree with you on the conspiracy theories. How hard can it be to fact check something these days with the internet? Now you can go to the NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) website and fact check KP, maybe she's telling the truth, or not. lol
I am grateful to be privy to the poetic source of inspiration for todays offering (yesterdays in real time) & for seeing the underpinnings for myself each day and knowing there are at least two others out there that share my view on such life pertinent realities .. cheers to both of ya .. Neville
Thank you dear Nev, I feel that we are in good company. I wonder how many are out there, who share these pertinent realities, that we will never know of, and how very important it is for us to take the time to understand each other, otherwise we never get anywhere. Take care my friend!
The.cycle of greed. Money the root of all evil. So much wealth in the hands of so few. Dear Bella, you have done a marvelous job here of the consequences of capitalism out of control. Love it. Well done. 🌹
Thank you my friend for relating, and for your kind comment. What, if anything, can we do?
I see a lot of work put into this very impressive write Bella.
you have a talent for writing, of that there is no doubt.
am more than impressed.
This comment, coming from a poet whose work I greatly admire means a lot to me, as does your fav. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
and thank you for very kind reply Bella.
Dear Bella I could not agree more. The microbes of disease feed off of the bones of the broken. The big fish always eat the small and in capitalism greed is the primary motivator. There have been other modals proposed but due to the intrinsic nature of man, which is selfishness, none have worked. It is a sad state of affairs. Loved your step by step approach to the disintegration of the system.
You are the kindest my friend, I'm so glad you read and gave me this insightful comment. Your words are always greatly appreciated!
This poem is quite literally my 12th grade Economics class I took last year minus the TRUTH. The truth of which you have wonderfully encapsulated and targeted in this poem. Thx for the awesome poem
