No, not about an addition to the family...
We were four of us, here at home
Now we are three
Now you, Dad, have departed
You had visitors in hospital
Whether recognising them or not
And prayers said with you
And Bible verses read to you - the word of life
Rest in peace now - awake to eternity
If, we trust, you had at least
Some Christian belief
Sometimes it's 'Whose faith is known to God alone'
You said to me near the end 'I am thirsty'
So did Jesus near His end
I sort of sensed the end was near
When you looked poorly and alone
Moved to a separate hospital bed
We're numb - it's a bit unreal
Believing you're still in hospital ward
And yet you're not now.....
R.I.P.
In the hymn -
Eventide comes, then the night
Then the morning of eternal life....
