Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!

Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂
I’ve been with MPS four years or more
With all of that time I’ve argued free speech.
Repeat often enough and become a bore,
Plus freedom has limits a 'poet' can breach.
-------
Then my vow to never block or ignore
Is severely tested and found wanting.
To repeat the same mistake is madness at core,
So of the poets here I apply some pruning.....

I hope I don't get pruned Dave.
Andy
I'm giving it active consideration, Andy, but having taken all factors into account, I think you are probably reasonably safe for a while......
Sir Orchi NS can become a bore at times. Would pruning hurt him?! heehee.
I don't like to press the panic buttons of 'block' or 'ignore' either.
Nah - but at times it becomes necessary. And you may take this as a confession that I was wrong to believe that free speech was fool proof.
Thanks for your visit, Sir ONS.
I surprised they didn't block me years ago, for some of the rubbish I spout when in my NS mode. heehee.
Yeh - I'm surprised too, orchi. just occasionally someone (not gonna tell ya it's me!) puts up something they feel passionately about and you intervene with a load of old bollocks (excuse the technical terminology). However at times you perform a useful function when you help bring the topic to the notice of the general viewing whoever's.. So keep up the good work with just a smidgin of discretion....Ta...😊
Cut me off eh? And after all these years. Its okay Dave as long as you don't block me. Fun read my friend
Thanks Soren - I'm hoping that many of my pins are interpreted as fun (in fact I know that to be so from the responses)
If you want to know the reason why here, then take a line from Tom Dillon (sorry Tom!) "His so-called banter borders on bullying but he’s only having a laugh". Degender that and view the threads on my most recent last two pins here and you have the answer.
For a poet that said they were not much for metaphor you have been having me on. I went back and looked and your most careful wording is as deeply poetic as it gets
How so, bearing in mind that I don't necessarily equate metaphor with good verse – for me? Though please understand that I’m not passing judgement on others who do use metaphor – just that I don’t always understand…..
Your head is too into metaphor, i think, Soren. Apart from a weak joke, which is exactly that, there are no metaphors in my last two pins. Besides, the focus from here was the subsequent thread responses in each case..
I would Neva block or besmirch anyone lightly .. If I felt it warranted such an extreme measure I would make one helluva rumpus .. (Note to self go check and see if you've ever used the word rumpus in a review note before) .. Now then, where woz I .. Oh' yes, I see no problem blocking or time-outing someone if I considered it appropriate .. It can hurt I know full well, particularly if the one on the receiving end is not sure why .. That has happened to me a few times and therefore, maybe a gentle nudge, explanation or warning shot across the bows is worth considering ..
When I am ever, or eventually pruned I will try to man up and hope I get over it .. All hail .. Neville
Hi Neville.
The extent of my rumpus can be found here and as detailed in my response to Soren two posts up. In four years this is the first time I’ve publicly blocked anyone.
If a decision is made to contribute to a poem/verse, then at least some effort should be made to address, even critique the issue, rather than merely lapse into personal abuse and label it just a joke.
A leg pull from time to time, certainly - but not at the expense of all acknowledgement of the original pin.
Please don’t prune me.( well if you must a couple of inches off the hips wouldn’t be missed) If I upset anyone inadvertently I would want to know about it Dave. Am I in the dawg house?
You surely do know about it Cassie. However you are not at this point a serial offender, merely a persistent one. I've even offered a 🕊️(dove , peace offering) which as been ignored.....
I don't really want to ignore or block you because I like very much some of your lovely poetry, but..............
I gotta reprieve then . Couldn’t find a dove. Sent a flower instead 🌺
Ah ha - think we may have restored respectful conversation here...Thanks for that.
🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️.....How many do you need?.... Here a bevy, dole, dule, flight, padding, piteousness, pitying or pretense of doves… New flights daily – place your order now (Form 178 B – signature second page bottom right).
I'm glad I made the cut. Excellent work, Dave.
Thanks for the read Thomas.
Hi ya Dave!! 👋 🐶
Great read! 👍
Tomorrow I'm gonna
write a poem full of
metaphor,, 😀
so I hope you
don't "prune" me 😈😭
It's still summer 🌞 here
it's not fall yet? 🍂 🍁
Best regards ✌️ Thad
Lurking round here is a poet named Thad
Whose poetry none could call bad;
All easy to understand
Now metaphor joins the band
Though the metaphor’s a red herring gone bad.
Come off the grass, Thad – you know this ain’t about metaphor, it’s just a distraction… Ignore/blocking and never having done it for four years……is what I’m on about
Come to think, though I don’t mind solving puzzles…😊
As for our seasons – Spring is being sprung on us….
Given the sorry state of the First Amendment I don't think free speech arguments can be repeated often enough. Keep at it.
Not being familiar with the first amendment of your Constitution I decided to look it up….. Wished I hadn’t, Dan… gave me a headache just looking at the list of contents… nah, I thought – life’s too short, and I’m too simple; I’ll stay with my concept of free speech and where the limits are… can’t help but feel a little sympathy for you.
