Something to shake our faith
Or attempting to shake it?
We know the sort of things
Death, suffering, calamity, etc
Yet it need not always be so
Things can strengthen our faith
Easy enough to say it
When it relates to 'others'
We can forget their sufferings at times
As in 'Out of sight, out of mind'
Not forgetting on purpose
But things slip our minds
Or we're busy with other things....
Let's hold to faith
We can't see it visibly-
That's why it's 'faith'
If we could see faith, it would be 'sight'
It's a ground to stand on - a Rock
Not as one said - a crutch to hold us up
So that we limp through life
Sufferings and troubles could turn us away from God
But they can also draw us nearer to Him
Not that they're good in themselves though
There's the hymn lines
'God works in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform'

- Comment from author about the poem: I'm not used to public speaking. I rarely do it. But I said, with God's help, a little at the Funeral Thanksgiving Service recently. A rare opportunity when so many close friends and relatives were all gathered in one place. Regular singing may resume shortly!

Whether true or not this view is most helpful if taken. A positive outlook to life is not only more healthy but more fun and that is what life is all about. Good write Orchi
Thanks SB.
Excellent
Thanks T.
You're welcome
They do say faith can move mountains and who am I to disagree .. I have seen some pretty remarkable things which can not easily be explained by anything other than faith .. Nice one Steven .. Neville
Thanks Neville. Sometimes we might lament our faith if not seeming to be able to move (or curse) a fig tree, let alone a mountain. This is the event where Jesus speaks the words about faith being able to move mountains.
Been mulling over of recent times about sacrifice, suffering and loss. Such a great honour and service you have given at a memorial.
Thanks A.
Amen! 🙏
Great poem,
thoughts and
message I'd say! 👍
