Compassionate Concern

Tune: Serenity

('Immortal love, for ever full')

Mark 9 v.20-27 parts

*******

Jesus did meet a father's son

Who was a troubled one

Afflicted by spirit evil

Not settled life at all

The father asked Jesus if He

Could do anything, see

His plea, Have compassion on us

Help us, you see us thus

Jesus said, If you can believe

And do this truth receive

All things are possible to they

That believe in this day

In anguish the father with tears

Said, I believe, appears

My unbelief here, help it do

I full want to trust you

Jesus did then the man's son heal

Compassion did He feel

Restored him to a healthy state

Showed His love, power great

Lovely rendition of a familiar passage which says more than we realize at first glance, methinks. While the 8,6,8,6 form is, if I recall aright, called Common Metre, yet iambic metre [i'AMB] is most often utilized and either I'm not yet fully awake or the metre in these stanzas is too jumbled to be readily sung as given. But it is lovely to again see that metre used! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks CM. I think 'metre' has some other meaning, to be exact. Something about certain stress on certain syllables in each line. My poetic talents don't go that far. I would have too much 'stress' working out those stresses! Yes, 8686 is Common Metre.
I don't know what iambic is - something to do with architecture? lol. As in Iambic columns.

surely this is a hymn poem in 8686, or iambic confused ..

Good evening Orchi, nice to see you still writing.

Compassion to healing, beautiful message. Compassion goes a very long way.
