A tearful sky pulls a gray blanket over its head
Misty eyed it lets out a gusty sigh
shorting lanterns spark as it rumbles out of bed
sheets of leaves rustle and fly
Stubborn, it will not turn on the light
head under covers it crawls
across the valley floor, in its spite
under torn cloudy shawls

We’ve had a couple of late afternoons with ‘storm cells’ that caused power outages, flooding and mangled trees, last night’s was particularly fierce and this poem has captured its mood and intensity.
Thanks so much for the read and comment it is appreciated as is all of your support. It's been raining here for a couple of days and projected for the next three as well. My Floriday house in the path of the oncomming hurricane is another reminder. Having passed through many in the past it brings back memories.
Feels like a recent afternoon, Soren.
Thanks Dave I appreciate the read and hope your afternoon becomes more sunny
It's far too easy to blame the weather these days .. here in England, there has always been the tendency to blame it .. whereas, I propose we should blame those who are most responsible for global warming & the corresponding impact this is having on it .. the weather that is .. having said that, it's been peeing down here for days .. .......................... and nights .. Neville
Climate change by whatever cause is making many scramble. I'm in the rain as well and my other house in Florida in the path of the lattest hurricane so what more can I say

I'm honestly one that loves the winter, storms, rain.
I find it therapeutic, then you have the nature vibe too, love to listen to the winter sounds in nature.
Created great imagery, my ideal night, for me would be tears of joy though lol
