The absence of light
Blinding
Where demons lay
Wounds bleed
Toxins seep
Infected hearts
Are
Crying
A wounded soul
Unwinding
Confronting demons
Untamed
Unashamed

Healing uncaged
Courage and strength
Entwining
The absence of light
Unblinding
Look up
The past
Is overcome
Now see
The
Pretty little
Stars
Shining

  • Comment from author about the poem: I'm sure we have all heard that quote, sometimes you have to stand in the dark to see the stars. I know I'm a bit rusty but that's the energy I'm trying, trying to see the light in hard times. The concept has definitely helped me this last year.

Yes, methinks I've been told the stars and moon are never not shining, however it takes the blackness of night to show them. Fascinatingly rendered in such a font with a compelling, subtly strengthening poignancy which half breaks the heart. Thank you for sharing.

When you wake up each day, you have almost reached the end of the dark tunnel. Wishing a bright a joyful future for you. Remorse well captured in a few short poetic lines. Beautiful indeed.

Love the first line "The absence of light blinding" The essence of this paradox is enlightening. The old saying that it always gets darkest just before the dawn makes sense. Also the idea that one has to stand at the bottom of a well to see the stars in day. Your poem introduces the psychological element of darkness and the last line of "Now see the pretty little stars shining" such a great finish. Fantastic
