Fit For Purpose

Neville

Fit For Purpose

It rained again today

and one could

barely make their way

toward the bar

without first treading

on someone

   else’s sodden feet ..

Nor for that matter

could one

adequately sway from

side to side

with the bass line that

leaked so

deliciously from those

three huge but

otherwise, magnificent

redundant

   Wharfedale speakers ..

Then a chord

   struck firmly home ..

The Three Dukes was

never meant

for dancing, courting,

disco’s or enjoying

oneself, but for serious

   drinkers only ..

There indeed is music to accompany proper drinking as there is music for a road trip, for dancing, for eating to, and almost every other human activity.

          It soothes this savages beast

"soothes" that's the word that partners well with music and its Listener!

            Redolent with atmosphere here, Neville.

              Good Evening Nev

I feel like a trip to the pub for a drink with some chilled music after this one and it's been a while.

Never disappoint, enjoyed very much Nev

Reminds me of pub's years ago whose only purpose was for drinking. Now a days, they're more restaurant-like. It's good you found one like that.
I think you described it beautifully, crowded, noisy, and purposeful. - Phil A.

I am so glad my little scribble reminded you of those watering holes of days of yore .. sadly most have long gone and those that remain only do so by the skin of their teeth, don't they .. cheers Phil

The blues of a rainy day accompanied by blues is my choice. Drinking can be raucous but I still prefer the more personal and not the franchise but the privately owned more homesy places. Nicely written Neville

Back in the day the pub I went was like that Neville, no music, no games tables, just good beer and good friends, darts and cards.

                        Wharfedale speakers take me back.

                        Andy
