Hurricane

sorenbarrett

Eye on the coast it screams its war cry
pushing waves of warriors onto beaches
climbing the sand, by its hand many die
soon the high ground it breaches

Spears of lightning, Thor's maul splits a wall
storm clouds then arrows of debris black out the sun
under waterfalls of rain the Valkyrie's call
drums of thunder echo, berserker war begun

Black as midnight it swings its sword of wind
cutting down trees bringing buildings to their knees
decapitating roofs, city bottle-necked, pinned
A cavalry of tornadoes advance with assassins' expertise

Throat of the city cut, it bleeds
It closes its eyes, the lights go out
with teeth of wind the storm feeds
flossing with sparking power lines along its route

Poetic account of what I've just watched through the safety of my TV screen, Soren. Horrendous.

I hope this whole thing blows over real quickly and with no more loss of life .. I don't think many here realise just how devastating these things can be .. I am thinking of you all .. Neville

Thanks so much Neville saw pictures yesterday, where the tornadoes went through just a couple of blocks from the house it looks like a war zone. All roads blocked in and out. Lucky the house made it through dodging the bullet. Appreciate the support

The poem paints the picture effortlessly like the deft brush strokes of a painter. Captivating!
