Some of The Things I Just Can’t Do

Try as hard as I might,

I can’t see the light

you insist, does exist

at the end

of each of my tunnels,

which keep getting longer ..

Try as hard as I like,

I just can’t seem

to work through each

of the to do lists

I continually update,

they keep getting longer too ..

Try as hard as I might,

I just can’t seem

to move forward ..

To let go, to forgive

or forget, each of those

wrongs, left so very one-sided ..

You are more persistent than I, I surrendered years ago and find that going with the flow is more in line with the Tao. I love the first two lines. When I can't see the light I learn to enjoy the darkness. I think the hardest thing of all is to learn to forgive oneself. A poem with many hidden gems concealed in the lines

That is a bind many get caught in and try as hard as I might could not believe that therapy is able to fix. But that’s just me.

There are therapists & therapy and there is therapy and therapists ..

It's like an Isosceles triangle, it won't work unless all sides are equal. Clear the to-do list with an I-don't reply. The light can't be seen from the perspective employed, turn around and get out of that tunnel. Short quirky answers to the dilemma. A most intriguing poem. It appeared to me to be looking for an impossible answer. It always seems the more we do the more do's are born. The light at the end of the tunnel is a bus coming straight at you.
Well so much for tunnels, for today. Enjoyed your poem, made me think. "Is the world just a series of tunnels?" - Phil A.

And two tunnels a metaphor for? Sorry Neville, much of what I find here (these pages) goes right over my head. But apparently lotsa poets here understand one another…so…

                        • Neville

I doubt all of that .. in fact I dubble doubt it .. so there ..

                          • Doggerel Dave

Ah me - I shall just have to carry on remorseless........😇

                          • NafisaSB

keep trying - one day the light at the end of the tunnel will be so bright as to be blinding - and you will also find the strength to forgive, forget, and move on...
                            been there, done that....

                            • Neville

                              We shall see .. Cheers

                            • Cheeky Missy

Darn, it's just after midnight here in Lincoln's Land and all my fatigued brain conjures in reply is the lilting "these are a few of my favorite things--"! This is too perfect and charmingly rendered with a haunting poignancy which swears many relate. Thank you very much for sharing.

You are far too generous Missy .. and too tired too I suggest you hit the sack sharpish ..

                              • Tom Dylan

A fine write, Neville. Love the sentiment, and the repetition just nailed it. Love it, mate.
