Inaudible Sounds
although I know I am
at least, an equal part of it ..
the silence here,
is quite simply killing me ..
from somewhere deep
within my core ..
I feel like some
kind of wild rotten apple ..
with it scratching
and gnawing at my insides ..
kind of like an earworm,
doing the rounds ..
trying to break free
from some invisible loop ..
yet somehow,
failing magnificently ..
I don’t even know
why I bother to mention it ..
after all, it’s nothing but
a series of inaudible sounds ..

An expressive write N.
Thank you ever so much Steven, that's very kind of you .. Neville
This is one I had not thought of before. Silence or the absense of sound has a sound of its own. A type of tinnitus but only noticable when no other noise is present. I love the last two lines and the apparent contradiction in terms inaudible sound. Could there be deeper meaning here?
thanks for delving deep my friend ..
As I increasingly deafen, I've come up with the mantra 'Can't hear it, don't bother with it'.
PS: Is that a mantra? No idea, but it is a workable solution when it comes to what passes for conversation with my peers these days.....
I jolly well think it could be .. and if it works for you then its fine by me squire .. cheers Neville
Inaudible reminds me of the range at which canines hear what we donβt; a bit random in relation to this poem, but perhaps some connection can be surmised.
I don't see why not .. thanks arqios .. Neville

No Jive my friend, I really found it that good. You're welcome
Sound is always present except in a vacuum. Yet even there, your ears would detect something. It is the sound of silence. It's like background noise for your brain. It's most likely of a high frequency. When, or if, it becomes audible and nothing is there, it could be tinnitus. Sorry for being so technical, but it was just my first reaction to your poem. - Phil A.

Might it be like a scarecrow, stuffed with hay...
Then the wind blows and its stuffing blows away
it hangs on to the inaudible sound in the dust
Says to himself, I feel this predicament is a bust
...Quite profound dear Neville.. Happy Halloween
