Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in replying or if I'm away for short periods. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon says, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

To me poetry is not
performing at open mic spoken word
for claps, clicks and cheers,
it’s not posting social media screen-shots
with hashtags, trends and likes.
To me poetry is not
wearing turtle-neck jumpers
and glasses I don’t need,
writing in the window of coffee shops,
on display like a mannequin
in a store window.
To me poetry is
trying to capture the beautiful
and the mundane, to seek out the
essence of a Wedding Day, a funeral,
or a rainy Sunday afternoon.
To me poetry is
the whisper in the dead of night,
a walk in the countryside stopping
press the most precious flower,
a pebble taken from a faraway beach,
the city streets at dawn.

Indeed I agree it is another way of seeing the world around us that brings it closer to the heart. Lovely write
Yes, Soren, that's exactly it. Closer to the heart! Spot on. Thanks a lot for your comments. Cheers, Tom.
Bullseye, Tom!
Thanks, Mutley. Really appreciated.
To me the way it happens sometimes is like having a good crap - effortlessly it slides out with just a modicum of modification and control along the way.
Apologies, Tom - I frantically hunted for a better analogy, but none came my way. In no sense should this be construed....😊
Haha. what an analogy! Really made me smile. 🙂 Thanks as always, Dave. Cheers, Tom.
To find beauty in the details where others may miss. Beautifully written!
Yes, GenXer, that is exactly it! Thanks so much for your comments. Cheers, Tom.
Erm, not a 'crappy' write as in Dave's comment - and not in any sense! lol.
Haha, thanks Orchi. Appreciated. Yes, I was trying to get down what poetry is and what it is not. In the same way I have to remind myself, watching documentaries about writing IS NOT writing. 🙂 Thanks as always, mate. Cheers, Tom.
Hey orchids you are pushing your luck. I felt I made it quite clear in my own inimitable way that I did not consider Tom's comment crappy - this was my experience, not his. Go back to being NS and also go find that Prodigal Son....
But I understand you didn't mean the actual poem is crappy.
Is that the best you can do? This was totally unclear. Don't waste your time here (not that Tom's thread is not a comfortable place to be). Your energies should reman in a hunt for PS, and polishing your skills in the non sequitur discipline you have made your own..........
I thought you had found PS by now! And why are we discussing this on someone else's poems?! lol.
Excellent write Tom
Thanks Tony. Really appreciated.
You're welcome
i hear you loud and clear, and second your opinion
Thanks a lot. Really appreciated.
welcome, and keep up the lovely compositions
So true Tom, poetry is what comes from within you form your own pleasure. If others enjoy it that is OK by me.
Andy
Andy, that is exactly it. I write what pops into my head and I try and capture it on paper. Thanks for your comments. Cheers, Tom.
In one word 'fantastic'... don't need anything else to describe your poem.
Thanks a lot for your comments. Really appreciated. Cheers, Tom.
