SHE WAS ALONE
The house remained silent
and time slowly passed:
she was now all alone.
With no means of escape
as the piercing winds raged
the house remained silent.
The scars that she bore
were deep and were wide
and time slowly passed.
His hurtful words whispered
pierced deep in her heart:
she was now all alone.

- Comment from author about the poem: The cascade is a form of poetry created by Udit Bhatia and is all about receptiveness in a smooth cascading way like a waterfall – at least that’s how it’s described! The form has no rhyme scheme so the layout is, therefore, quite simple. It can consist of any number of verses but is more commonly written in four in which each verse consists of three lines as follows: line one of verse one becomes the last line of verse two, the second line of verse one becomes the last line of verse three and the last line of verse one becomes the last line of verse four. Lines To make a cascade longer more lines are used in verse one. For example : if verse one has six lines the poem must have seven verses so that each line of verse one is reused as the last line in the following six verses – ie a cascading effect. This is rework of one I wrote a while back.

A poem that reeks with lonelyness and is haunting
Funnily enough I write sad poems best when I'm in a happy mood. Appreciate your comment.
