Another November
I am not that keen on November
yet you still wear my poppy with pride ..
And while I have not the slightest
desire to either re-live, or remember ..
Since I have nowhere except for these
old shell holes, in which to hide ..
I shall continue to lie here alone
while ghosts dance on the lay lines above ..

Good write N. We got a little bored of it at school. Partly because of our age of youth maybe, but a rather gruff Colonel-type teacher gave us a 'lecture' of it each November. Probably entitled 'I remember when....!' lasting about 5 hours - or it felt that long.
between 1914 & 1918 many of the generals needed to be booed off the stage
Beautiful, a haunting tribute to those lost in war and now lay forgotten by most, but remembered by a few
Thank you kindly .. Neville
Todayโs athleteโs foot was once trench feet and one barely remembers the climate in which they laboured. Perhaps one day a fuller understanding will reside, with breadth and depth and pride.
Sadly I doubt it but we can live in hope .. thank you for tagging along .. Neville
Their sacrifice is my freedom. I canโt ever forget that. A haunting tribute Neville to those who gave their all and did so willingly.
You are absolutely right Cassie, their sacrifice is indeed the reason we can all enjoy the freedoms available to us today .. I know you share my views on this and many associated matters & thank you for that and so many other things besides .. Neville
A beautiful tribute, my friend, to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice! Bravo! ๐๐น๐คโค๏ธ๐ค
Many thanks indeed Tristan .. a very much appreciated visit sir .. Neville
Can't knock that, Neville...and all the rest yesterday, today and tomorrow.....
Cheers Dave & ta for the thumbs up .. ๐

Excellent write Nevilie
Cheers Tony .. Neville
You're welcome
LEST WE FORGET all subsequent wars, the casualties on all sides, (both civilian as well as military) and the stupidity of the politicians and the military industrial complex which inflicted it all.
........................ Damn write sir Dog ๐
Very moving words Neville, we must never forget.
Andy
............................................... Absolutely not .. ๐
A moving write and a fitting tribute, Neville.
Thank you Tom
What kills my ability to participate is the fury such a holiday stirs in a heartbeat until I'm seething. I mean, every time I must go on patrol I cannot miss this rude stone wall built by my distant relatives under most cruel oppression and causing me pain every single time by dint of the same.
Your tribute, by contrast, is delightfully apropos and tendered with such excellent humor I could yield a wry smile, if only I wasn't still infuriated at the mere mention. Thank you very, very much for sharing.
it is I ma'am that should thank thee for calling so early .. my time that is .. and so I shall .. thank thee Missy & truly .. Neville
I'm stuck pulling third shift when it's quasi convenient to visit here. Using a cellphone is one means of keeping the mind awake, after all. My pleasure, you're welcome.
