Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I will return early January.
I will return early January.
LEST WE FORGET all subsequent wars, the casualties on all sides, (both civilian as well as military) the stupidity of politicians and the military industrial complex which inflicts it all.

Noted. Understood. And well done, my friend! Very poignant. "LEST WE FORGET" indeed!
Many thanks for your support, Tristan. I do have trouble with this memorial day, as I do with Anzac Day in Australia.
You're welcome!
Well said. If we’ve learned anything from History , it’s the fact that we’ve learned nothing from History.
And with that, there\'s nothing much to add, because you are spot on, Kevin.
Goes without saying .. but needs to be & increasingly so year after year .. gets a dubble 👍👍from me ..
Don't worry Neville, I'm very capable of a redux...
So very true Dave.
Andy
Thanks Andy - I knew you would agree.
Dave, you have captured well both the sides of this day the stupidity of politicians wage the wars and the valor of those who fight them. Thank you for the write
That's fine, Soren - thanks for your response.
11 November, 9/11 and Anzac Day (Australia) are bad times for me, because they trigger thoughtless cliched responses on those days which excuse any real deep examination of war and it's causes.
A very heart touching,
thought provoking
and poignant write indeed! 😢
You're right on the money,
thank you a great read! 👍
Best regards ✌️ Thad
Always good to know I get your endorsement when touching on this topic, Thad.
Many thanks.
Much said in a few words. We remember them, but never do enough to prevent future mistakes. I hope your poem gets read by all. - Phil A.
Thanks Phil - seems to be doing surprisingly well considering it had a few outings before I made the decision to put it up properly.
Perhaps I am off the mark but the "military industrial complex" summarised the real reason of waging wars - money.
Money and power are inextricably linked - aggression, territory ideology etc also in the mix, I would think.
