If Only

If Only

It is unwise to speak truthfully to an empty room.

Whatever the clock says is lost, if no one is there to register the time.

Preaching to empty pews will get no one closer to God.

Wars cannot be fought without soldiers.

World wide disarmament will only happen if the masses refuse to engage.

Tell the world to stop fighting and go home.

Watch the Generals squirm when they are all alone.

Real bravery is in resisting enlistment.

It must begin where the fighting and dying is happening.

Followed on by the masses demanding peace.

All armies must be deserted, if necessary.

War-mongers must be arrested.

Leaders who insist on war must be detained.

Hateful speech must be curtailed.

Less people will die accomplishing this than in waging war.

Will this ever reach all of the masses?

Of course not.

    Much propaganda glorifying war brainwashes.
Shrieks of horror at wars in other places.
Which country in the western world does NOT manufacture and export armaments?
Rhetoric from the media on the increase…
Inclined to hope climate change gets us first….

Thank you, DD. We need to choose leaders who are equally fanatical about making peace. Maybe a global court (backed with economic powers) to resolve disputes.

        A supercharged United Nations perhaps?

and shamelessly so many sleep easy .. tis indeed shameful .. we clearly have a choice to make and soon .. wake up and smell the coffee or the cordite .. the choice is collectively yours .. my bunker was completed four or five days ago .. Neville

Thank you, Neville. I think the estimate is 30 of the most powerful bombs exploding to create a planet that is uninhabitable. The residual radiation would cover the planet, and no agriculture would ever be edible again. nor would any air be breathable, nor water drinkable. No leader should ever rule who can't pass a sanity test.

          So true Phil. If Only....?

Thank you, Andy. Hang in there.

Beautiful message with great power, but grave consequences. Beautifully written.

            • MendedFences27

Thank you, SB. Grave indeed, and we are so close to destroying this planet, just so some nut-case can prove his masculinity. And when it comes to nutcases, take your pick.

We live in dangerous times. There is so much here in your powerful lines to consider. Sadly there is money in warfare and there are leaders who are happy for it to continue. Most are terrified of it and the outcomes. Do I have much hope for the future ……..

              • MendedFences27

Thank you, Cassie. Dangerous indeed, totally unfit leaders engaging in warfare, yet none of them is on the front lines. Just mis-using their people to satisfy their own egos.

Not just beautifully written but something myself reflects on every single day, can you imagine if the leaders of each country had to be on the frontline? Kudos powerful and something to think about for everyone. 🌹

Thank you, Teddy. Much appreciated. Your comments are too kind. I just wish the population of the world would come together and decide to live in peace and not let a few others force them to do otherwise
