We first met in weather.
I summoned the courage of the Samurai,
and spoke:
“This weather, one day hot next day cold?”
“Excuse me?” she said.
Perhaps we weren’t Romeo and Juliet,
And we weren’t destined for greatness,
But we did fall in love.
Love came to us like a soft cloud,
That took most of our troubles away.
It gave me clear vision and a sense of purpose.
Oh but it was too good for this world.
Here gentleness couldn’t survive long,
When cancer came knocking on the door.
Our last meeting was in weather.
I fell to my knees at her resting place,
“This weather one day you’re here next day you’re gone”.
“Excuse me?” I thought I heard her say.

Oh my. This is such a touching write David. I’ve got a tear in my eye. Life can be so cruel and I know all about cancer. Such a deep sense of loss here and sadness too. Poignant poetry. Touched the core.
