miss you, miss you, miss you
miss you every day
miss you with the rising sun
or when the clouds drift grey
miss you when the snow falls
on ground as hard as stone
and more so when each leafless tree
cries out with winter’s moan
miss you, miss you, miss you
what happened to your smile
and all the happiness you gave
departed now some while
miss you, miss you, miss you
the you, you used to be
so many years your light switched off
the blinds are closed and broken now
the poison that you built yourself
holds you a hostage locked inside
the pathway that you chose for you
storm clouds the darkness that you live
a prison too for me

That’s sad ( but a well written piece of writing .
Thank you Caring dove. It is indeed a sad piece but reflects a fairly common problem. I appreciate your visit .
Most powerful poem about a terrible disease that tears people apart individually and socially. Very nicely written Cassie.
Thank you Soren. Yes it is a curse to both individuals and to family as well. I appreciate and value your thoughts.
Addictions really do. And the addict truly isn’t their self, leaving their loved ones missing them, let alone reeling from the trauma of it all. So sorry your family is experiencing this. A hauntingly poignant poem Cassie. This brought tears to my eyes, because I have had addiction in my family, and have had my own struggles that I luckily moved on from. Could have gone a different way,, and almost did, but I am thankful that it didn’t. A most important write, emotionally, but also showing the OTHER side of addiction…what it does to families. Excellent poem! 👏🌹🖤
Thank you Tristan for your very thoughtful comments. Pleased to hear that your struggles have been resolved. Thanks for the rose. This wasn’t easy to write. Our situation is ongoing.

Andy
Thank you Andy. Poetry isn’t always flowers and blue skies sadly. Have a lovely day. Wrap up warm.
This one drew a fuck from me Cassie .. I know the pain you refer to and I also know that you know no-one sets out or chooses to become addicted to anything, but once hooked, it is so much easier to stay hooked than it is to scramble free .. and even knowing that don't help none. 💜
Thank you my friend. Addictions are painful. You see that every day in your line of work. My family have been cursed by it for 30 years. It hurts everyone involved . This wasn’t easy to write. 💜
Magnificent poetry dearest Cassie. Your rhyming is too lawless along with the theme, addiction is a cruel fate. 🌹 ❤️
Dear Teddy, the muse came in with rhyme. I may just rewrite this sometime in free verse. Thanking you always for your kindness and support of my efforts. Truly appreciated dear poet. 🌹
sad but true that addiction leads not only destruction of one's own life, but also affects those near and dear.
you have brought this out so poignantly and clearly.
