Test. I am struggling to post. (Without The Words)

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
*NO LONGER POSTING AS GETTING ERROR MESSAGE*
.

I want a shed just to write in

with a rug, and a desk and

an old-fashioned typewriter,

but for now I have a dog-eared notepad

and a ballpoint pen.

I would retreat to my shed

every morning,

commuting across my garden lawn,

with my cup of Earl Grey tea

and nothing to do with

the day but write.

If I had this magic shed

would the words still come

or would they dry up,

drifting away on the breeze

like flakes of snow?

Having the wonderful shed

and the typewriter and tea,

and the time,

but without the words,

You've successfully posted and I, for one, am VERY grateful. Wow! This beauty trips down the page like the idea is a waltzing jest preening itself for the limelight. Oh! But tis so romantic! "Just a shed..." and the charming notion unrolls like the red carpet for the gods. How delectable! Beautifully rendered with superb imagery and delightfully haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing. [My, I've had an awful 12 hours and can't be thankful enough I chanced to drop in just now.] FYI, where I normally was always logged in to this site, for days now I've been locked out every time I click the email link and forced to log in. Wonder what's afoot?

Bless ya, thanks for your comments. Really strange. I get this 403 error when I try to post. I managed to post one line at a time but can't post the last stanza. Here it is. The poem should end like this
      but without the words,
      would be like having
a bright red convertible sports car
      parked on the drive
      with an empty fuel tank.

Lovely! Thank you so very much!

In this day and age it is quite a production to write the way it used to be done. I remember getting quite soiled re-inking the typewriter ribbon because the me4chants no longer stocked them. Oh but the feel is superb!

        • Tom Dylan

Yeah, I have this image of this wooden shed and a typewriter. That is what a writing space is, rather than on my sofa with my notebook, but I wonder if I would be able to write quite the same. Thanks for your comments.

I suspect not, the mechanics are physically different and that affects the psyche quite a bit. I’d say they both shall carry with them pluses and minuses.

Oh no, Plan B, an alternative poems due to blips!

Yeah, technical glitch for some reason. Since Wednesday when I try to post it says 403 error. I managed to post part of this one but had to do line by line, editing it over and over. Hmmm

Thanks Tony. I am currently struggling to post but I hope normal service will be resumed next week.

                  You're welcome

Don’t know about you, Tom, but as for me if I just sit and think of a poem that doesn’t come, I have to be doing other things during the day. I hope you find your shed and love the poem.

                  • Tom Dylan

Thanks a lot, Soren. Yeah I need to find my inner shed. Thanks as always for your comments

Technology can be such a pain in the ass. Good work.

                    • Tom Dylan

Thanks a lot, Thomas. Really appreciated.

You want your own man cave Tom, and why not? A little bit of your own space. Love a cup of Earl Grey by the way.

Hope you sort out the tech problems soon. Good to read you.

                      • Tom Dylan

Thanks so much, Cassie. Yes a man-cave to write in would be perfect. And I'm new to the Earl Grey, I tried it in a hotel in York last year and have been hooked ever since. 🙂 Thanks as always for your comments.

I understand the need for your own small space, I have that now. My cupboard (read small self-contained bedsit) is all mine...

I cannot understand why you would be getting error messages, Tom. I just complete mine on Word then copy and paste. I can't think that there is any other way.

                        • Tom Dylan

Yeah, I usually end up writing in my notepad wherever I find myself. Mostly on the living room sofa. 🙂 Thanks as always for your comments.

                          • Tom Dylan

I admire your dedication, Andy. I do not quite have the drive to get up early to write. Respect.

A Shed was good enough for Roald Dahl.

That is exactly what I was thinking of. Love that he wrote in his armchair in his shed. Fantastic.
