Nursery mantra

sorenbarrett

I cradle myself in maternal arms
With paternal strength, a shield from all harms
Held in the only heart that cares
A beggar hand out for alm’s wares

Round around the Mulberry bush
The monkey pulled the weasel did push
Mary’s lamb became a ram
And the three little pigs for the wolf a ham

Excellent, Soren! The juxtaposition in brilliant in this, not t to mention the fresh take in classic nursery rhymes to serve th poems central point. Bravo! 🌹👏

Thank you so much, Tristan. I very much appreciate your reading this and your most gracious comment. Sometimes we go back to early thoughts to express present day emotions.

such nursery crimes are all the rage write now .. I think its something to do with being woke too late in the day .. nicely penned & then some

Thanks, Neville. I always thought that it had to do with being fixated in an infant like state of gluttony narcissism and continued expectation for being taken care of. Oh well, I’m just speaking about myself.

Too enjoyable, trying to make out the barbs from the hilarity! Here’s a couple in response:
          Hickory, dickory, dock,
The rat ran up the corporate clock.
Strikes one, strikes two, strikes three,
Climbing fast, no time for glee.

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep,
In a world where promises don't keep.
Look and find, they say in jest,
In life's maze, we all do our best.

Love this - it has an element of the surreal but with prophetic undercurrents.

Is my old repetition appreciated?! lol. As I say, I may get no further than 'good/fine write'. (lol) I never thought of juxtaposing, narcissism, etc, in some of the other educated comments!

Protected by the hand of unconditional love from the wolf, LoL I find much humour in this but maybe because my humour is dry ❤️
