Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!

‘We’re here because we’re here’ affirms for me
The certainty that I will never know
The what of absolute reality.
.
Should it disturb me? That I cannot see;
I’m here which is enough; I’m good to go -
Allowed by this to live completely free.

- Comment from author about the poem: ‘We’re here because we’re here’ originated in the trenches of WW 1 - something I’ve never quite been able to get my head around. Removed from that charnel house however, the aphorism holds within it a truth I’m not about to deny.

I think therefore I am! But I like we’re here cause we’re here, but then apart of me wants to find out what is here part. Ah, absolute reality… maybe I should go to bed and compare the two in the morning. Great poem big dawg
Maybe.... Thanks for the call and fave.....
I got up this morning so all is well.
Andy
For you Andy it is always well.... and I'm not about to knock it.....
Oohh, branching into aphorisms! Aww, why do they to me 'You're here talking rubbish again - and that's bad enough to start with!'. lol.
I have absolutely no idea why anyone would wish to discourage you so, orchi. I think you and I just have to accept that some people are born with a mean streak.........
And now, inspired hugely by your poem title, for the title of my next poem, which I would never have thought of on my own: 'There'. (lol). Or it might be 'Everywhere'. I do it to myself, they don't have to discourage me - talk rubbish! heehee.
Well it seems 'There' remains available if you are quick. Use 'Here' again and I'll sue the socks off yer..............
Dave, you hit upon a sore spot. I don’t believe there is any certainty and certainly no absolute reality. And worse of all, there is no total freedom. So I enjoyed the poem, but still feel captive and uncertain.
Hey thanks for the call, Soren. From my POV you are part the way there (your first line). There has to be an ultimate reality, it is just that I or any other any other being in our mode has no access to it. Certainty therefore not available..
You will have to define what for you total freedom means and why it is worse…..than what?; I know what it means for me and I am happy with it. 😊
Oh, that will fit with the most hated phrases that Orc was on about! ‘Here for what?’ One could ask, or: ‘Where’s the rest of you?’ And as hinted in the poem, how about the ones that are physically present but not all there? And so here we are… what next?
Sorry - don't get it, mate. (let's insulate orchi from this particular conversation, otherwise confusion will reign - apologies orchi) Message is: I don't have access to ultimate reality. End of story for me. Others (and yes I suppose that would include those with a religious faith) may well feel they have, but that isn't me.
A gotcha! I probably had one too many today. 🤣
I feel well over half the poets here are in the same condition - at least you aware and honest about it.!!😜👍
Wow! True story. Incredibly deep! Well done, friend. 🌹👏
For me that's as deep as it gets. Thanks Tristan.
Well...that's deep, my friend! LOL! You're welcome!
You're here because a couple got together and co-mingled some biochemistry, then someone slapped your butt and it's been all downhill since. Beyond that the greater purpose is survival. This may sound off-putting but it's not. There is survival in the here and now and survival in the future. - Phil A.
At the level from which you approach this you are Phil, absolutely right...................................................!
This is really cool you old dog .. please accept the following 👍👍.. the thumbs up sign also has a great & otherwise significant association with WW1 .. 🐧
You would, wouldn't you.... I've got better things to do than have to research cryptic commentary... which I did... had difficulty separating fumbs from thumbs, but realised it didn't matter...but then disappeared down the inevitable rabbit hole...
While I'm here - you had an exchange with Rik (arqios) re an old mental health tome.. but I've lost the reference as he modified his post. Recommendation? Detail which would allow me to sniff around Abe Books or similar...?
Thanks for the read BTW.
.. Percival's Narrative a Patients Account of His Psychosis 1830 - 1832 🐧👍
Thanks Neville - I'm assuming you have good reason to recommend... I shall sus it out sometime soon.
👍👍
You're here because your here
Becuz it's clear!
You've found sooo many
good friends, you hold so dear!¿? 😆
Anywho, thanks for sharing my friend!
