Tune: St Andrew
('Jesus calls us o'er the tumult')
John 1 v.35-41
For St Andrews Day: November 30.
********
Andrew and Simon Peter, two
Of John's [Baptist] disciples were true
John saw Jesus and said, Behold
The Lamb of God! it be told
They two then did Jesus follow
Jesus turned around, did know
They were there, and said, What seek ye?
In His sight He did them view
They said, Rabbi, where do you dwell?
Will you unto you now tell?
Jesus said, Come and see, and they
Did stay at His place that day
Andrew unto Jesus he brought
His brother Peter, him sought
Said, We have the Messiah found
The Christ, hear the joyful sound
Jesus said to Peter, You shall
Be called Cephas, know it well
A stone, having sure foundation
Preaching unto the nation

Orchi I feel back in Sunday school again. Nice to hear youโre back to your hymns and to your biblical writings. It feels just like old times.
Thanks SB - hope so, though it's been 'special occasions' only recently.
Wot a relief - hymns are definitely your forte,. orchi.
Thanks D. I could lapse into madness and NS themes at any time. lol.
Fair warning orchi. I thank you for the kindness and consideration you exhibited in the provision of that information..
Itโs been a while O! Are he back for good? Fido is orchi ok?
Woof! thanks says Fido.
Wonderful write, friend! I love your hymns truly. And, no joke, I have tried them out to your tune suggestions! Hymnody is such an art and theological conveyor to people. Well done. Before long, youโll be up there with Charles Wesley (if you arenโt already) in numbers! Bravo Orchi! Indeed, Andrew was amiable and this hymn wonderful! ๐น๐
Thanks T. Wesley wrote over 8,000 hymns including unpublished ones, I think - phew!
You are welcome friend...and you are quite right! The estimates of all his hymns, including unpublished ones, are between 8,500 and 10,000 hymns. Quite a number to have to live up to! But hey...no time like the present! LOL! ๐ Well done, again, Orchi. I am quite fond of your hymns. ๐๐
I don't want to encourage you too much but it is good to see you are getting back into your old familiar stride .. Neville
Thanks N. You likes the mad digressions too! lol.
Loverly, you rascal. After that, dang! I'd love to know whether it's true. I'll stay on the fence for the time being, I guess. Thank you be very much for sharing. Beautifully rendered in good style with excellent imagery, poignancy and nice rhythm.
Thanks CM. Bit uncomfortable sitting on a fence. lol.
Haha!
Something much more familiar here. Very spiritual and not a mention of her indoors. Have a happy Saturday evening Orchi.
Thanks C. Her - or She - who must be obeyed?! lol. Since when did I ever do one thing she asked of me? heehee.
Well written and expressed
Thanks Tony.
You're welcome
