A Hand Full of Ashes
Is this for real, I asked myself
and in my sorrow,
despaired both long and hard
because I knew it was ..
Yet still, the gulls,
gargoyles and most of the girls
collectively despised
and frowned down upon me ..
So I bubble wrap
my day and manufacture one
of those false smiles,
that you were most famous for ..
But the wind got
there first and blew them away ..
Long before it caught
like a fire, in the draught of my
late father’s house ..

Wonderful poem, with a subtle aura of implicitly recognized meanings... Best regards,
............................... Cheers 😎👍
I enjoyed the read, thank you
I am delighted you found it and took time to respond .. thanking you kindly .. Neville
Your very welcome
Oh so deeply melancholic, of masks, isolation and most strikingly of inherited struggles. A superbly touching exploration of grief and deep personal loss. I salute the strength and the engagement of these that we carry hidden within us.
Thanks arqios .. Neville
Haunting and gets better with each read. It reads with melancholy and although as light as ashes it contains a darkness. I look too deep at times but couldn't help but wonder if there was meaning in the alliteration of three g's gulls gargoiyles and girls and the three g's of Masonry, A wonderful write Neville
there may be some unconscious geometrical association but you know only too well that a gentleman never tells .. well not while the great architect is keeping an eye on things anyway .. but I must just say this, you are far too generous and kind .. Neville
Got it clear and you are so right
I could hazard a guess, but I won't. Only to say, we all end up ashes.
Thanks for participating .. Neville

Absolutely brilliant piece of art. Astonishing imagery of the bubble wrap!! Felt like a journey into isolation and lingering pain. The subtle expressions lended an air of deep imotion.
