Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I will return early January.
I will return early January.
An old saw:
‘Can’t see the wood for the trees’:
For some poets, by golly,
there’s a corollary –
Can’t see the truth for the words.
That’s why I stick to verse.

Smart and prickly! Just as is should be DD, cheers ππ»
Cheers back to you: "prickly" ? - got me in one!
Damn. So that's how you feel about me. π€¬ Well, I nev...er...oh you did say "some"...π€£ Seriously, poets are people...so yeah, you ain't kidding! LOL! Smart, witty, and to the point and that is just right for me! Well done, my friend! πΉπ Now, because of that cussing emoji, I am pretty sure Fido might seeking me out soon! LOL!
Thanks for your support, Tristan. But you don't have to congratulate me; it's not obligatory. My 'prickly' side is very capable of dealing with anything 'poets' (yes - them!) can chuck at me..... π (this emoji is the closest in form I can get to my avatar - which is why I use it so much..)
LOL! Well, congratulate I did! I didn't feel obliged, I promise. When something needs to be said...it needs to be said. π€ͺ (Probably closest to mine! LOL!) Well, that or perhaps this π¦ββ¬. Make of that what you will. Hahaha!
ππ
Great brevity and
explanation too! π
Yeah "some" do,
long as it ain't me
Or you! ,π
Very witty ditty!! π€©
Much enjoyed my friend!!
Best regards βοΈ Thad
Thanks Thad,
This time
No rhyme.
'See ya back at the usual place.....π
To the point and enjoyable read
Curses! I didn't do this for people to enjoy!!π
I hit the heart shaped button regardless & just in case, maybe .. π€
Better to cover as many bases as you can, that's for sure ....You never know......
Intriguing words Dave.
Andy
Happy you are intrigued, Andy.
I saw the trees for the wood - I walked into a tree trunk. Doh! So I got an old saw and cut the tree own.
You\'ve certainly got your environment under control - not sure of your contribution to global warming though....
Of course I'm not going to mention my main issue relating to words and truth ... I really wouldn't know where to begin..........!
Haha, you're too funny, despite rendering a painful reality too well.
Missy, you read me too well! There's usually a little tongue-in-cheek involved somewhere.... Thanks for the fave.
I see the saw and saw the sea but never sawed the sea. Never saw would only wood. Loved the last part where the truth could not be seen for the words. So true words often disguise the truth. That's why they say show don't tell.
A talent for riddles... cryptic verse yes, but riddles? You've kept that hidden, Soren. But what of your last sentence? How does one operationalise this on a poetry site?
Superb work. I like the edge.
Thanks for the visit. Glad you found something there.
"Canβt see the truth for the words." the line delivered solid punch. Still reeling from...Exceptional!
Oh well - there you go; I have these fits of pique occasionally.....
