me and Shadow
we've been partners
dang near nine years now-
Shadow he's gettin' old
an' tired lately
an' so am i,
he's been a loyal
companion always
watchin' out for me--
we are kinda like this
yesterday's newspaper
here we found
by the curb today-
we're old news
wrinkled an' discarded;
folks just walk
on by, turn their
heads uncaring--
yep, we're outcasts of
society, unseen
like ghosts in the wind-
but we'll git by
we been through a lot
together him an' i
through thick an' thin--
i know he's hungry
an' i am too,
but we'll make it
one day at a time,
we're buddies to the end
me and my Shadow~
