Reading Poetry

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

Reading poetry in the lamp glow

on a rainy afternoon

as a storm whose name I forget

taps its fingers on my window,

is just a delight,

is like waking from

the best night's sleep

to find it's Saturday,

like sitting up after the well-needed massage

you've had booked for weeks,

like when your awful

hangover shifts,

and you feel like yourself

once again.

Some great examples of feeling good and yes poetry can be one. Lovely

    • Tom Dylan

Thanks a lot, Soren. I was inspired to write this after the recent storms. It was quite nice to be inside reading.

The main issue is having a secure roof, solid walls and foundations which form your sanctuary.
Good to see you back, Tom.

      • Tom Dylan

Yes that's exactly it, Dave. We've had lots of storms recently. Good reading weather. And thanks for the nudge to try posting again. 🙂

And once again and yet again. A position that I shift toward every chance I get! Writing too, not to leave that out👍🏻 Liked and Faved ⭐️

Oh yes, when the storm is raging outside, that is perfect reading, and writing weather. Time to get the kettle on and get comfortable. Thanks for your comments. Really appreciated.

Cheers mate! It’s raining here right now and I’m poeting by low light… have a pleasant one! 👍🏻

You got that kettle on?! lol. Oh well, only about 12 days and it starts getting lighter again.

              • Tom Dylan

Oh yes, the shortest day and all that. The way the weeks are going it will soon be spring. And yes, time for a brew. 🙂

Then in Summer I suppose we could say - be glad - we've still got 12 days of Summer left.
But for now - wishing away the dark evenings?
Heehee I really depress some folk. When it's just past the Longest Day in June I may say 'Cheer up, the nights are drawing in now!'

                  • Tom Dylan

You do make me smile, Orchi! 🙂 I dont mind the nights drawing in and like autumn etc, but not a fan of the Ch word.

Don’t you just love it when you can indulge in reading poetry for a couple of hours without being rudely interrupted by those who want you to spend your time on other projects:) This poem warms the heart Tom.

Reminds me of Keats ‘Keen fitful Gusts are whispering here and there’. When he can’t wait to be in a Cottage to read Poetry.
                                    Nice One.
