Fisherman's song

sorenbarrett

Skyscraper waves far over your head
Surface your sky as you lie on its bed
from deep out of your pores monsters creep
In the eye of a hurricane dream you sleep

A tornado of fire guides your way
Voice of flame fires the clay
Now heart of stone grinds your meal
From bread pick a bone blood congeal

It drips from a barbwire crown
A fisherman can never drown
Born of a virgin daughter
He walks on troubled water

It was a thought-provoking poem. I may also need to consider what can be seen from the shadows of my thoughts.

Thanks so much for the read. Some might consider this a religious poem but that is not intended the cultural archetypes from this culture were used as symbols for the message.

Wow! These words cap off an already image-rich and deep poem. I know you are not a religious person, my dear friend Soren, but these words speak all levels of truth, especially spiritual truth. The Biblical references are masterful and serve the larger point of the poem without falling into the trap of being interpreted religiously...a fine line that you have walked with finesse, my friend. This is art...speaking truth...pure and simple. 🌹👏 Faved!

You humble me dear friend. So right to see them for what they are archetypal images just as I use Greek, Norse, or Oriental. They all point the same direction. Thank you so much for your enlightened review
