Notice of absence from arqios
A reminder to extend an olive branch… where possible.
Let us sup of the dignity of kindness and humility…
A reminder to extend an olive branch… where possible.
Let us sup of the dignity of kindness and humility…
That proverbial “third wheel” syndrome
a companion in solitude
haunts the poet’s heart
- a feeling that clings like shadows
…never quite shaken off.
In crowded spaces, they feel distant
a shaman stepping back from the scene
a witness to love’s tender embrace
while longing stirs like the wind.
With each verse penned, they mark the ache
attempting to erase the alienation
….finding solace in ink
crafting lines that bind their solitude
transforming isolation into art.
But in the quiet of the night
a realisation dawns, unexpected:
solitude, once a shadow, becomes a sanctuary.
In the stillness, strength emerges
an epiphany: the poet finds
contentment in their own company
discovering unique paths for a third wheel to trek.

This poem is beautiful art. 🌹
Thanks Teddy. It had to be dressed up a bit, somewhat.
This is too true to be comfortable Cryptic and yet it sprouts from the pen like a new plant.
This is why I believe in poetic fellowships. One reminder to myself in film: Bancroft and Hopkins (if I’m not mistaken) in “84 Charing Cross Road” and how their correspondence over the years held them up through decades of day to day living. But again, that is just me babbling on. Thanks kindly. Many truths are not comfortable but to move along have to be faced head on. See you over the new year, a couple more days to go!
Quite frighting how accurate this poem is, even though written in a beautiful form it makes a [powerful statement, really enjoyed.
It’s good to hear this. I for one have to face up to what presents itself, however frightening. But there also is hope to not only be mere observers or documented s of life but active, fulfilled participants as well! Perhaps more on those thoughts in the coming months. Have a terrific new year and thanks kindly for your visits this year and the much welcome exchanges 🙏🏻
You are more than welcome, and may the new year deliver your wishes
🙏🏻
I thought this was gonna be about losing a wheel on a tricycle or summat, me being highly unimaginative at times! lol.
That works too, envision a Chaplin moving picture with no words. Throw in a bit of Laurel and Hardy too. Thanks Steve.
a work of art indeed....
and one to favour.
enjoyed every line;
Thanks kindly 🙏🏻
A great write - I'm quite jealous lol 😂😂
Happy New Year Michael🎉🗓️
And to you arqios
Such exquisite ink so precisely and purposefully laid, now able to rest here framed for eternity .. excellent arqios, absolutely exquisite .. Neville
Ink 🖋️ so famously permanent, so infamously terrifying!
Wow! This poem beautifully captures the evolution from loneliness to self-discovery! 🌙✨ Your vivid imagery of the “third wheel” transforming from a haunting shadow to a sanctuary is extremely powerful, my dear friend. I also really love how you portray the poet’s journey - from feeling alienated in crowded spaces to finding strength in solitude. The line “crafting lines that bind their solitude” is particularly striking, and it speaks to me of how art can be both an expression of isolation and a bridge to self-connection. That really resonates with me and, I would imagine, most poets/aritists. Anyway, I could go on...but needless to say this is an easy fave for me! 🌹👏 Well done!
Thank Tristan 🙏🏻 so glad that this poem brought all that out, as per your much welcome feedback! More power to us all 👍🏻
Hear hear! Indeed, thank you for writing a deep poem, as you tend to do! 🙏❤️
Try as I may, it would be cutting against the grain if I went the other way. Here’s looking to a very good year, friend!
Indeed. And why do that? 🤣 Yes, here's to a very good year, my friend! ❤️
🎉
Tremendous work. You nailed it.
🔨 hammering away one nail at a time. Thanks kindly 🙏🏻👍🏻

Andy
Thanks Andy 🙏🏻
Yes , I like that , and can understand all that you say.
I suppose ‘Poets’ are all Observers of life and Relationships. Good one.
Thanks Kevin 🙏🏻 this one won't parallel your latest posting, which is sublime, by the way, if I hadn't said so before. But I'm glad of your review and response. 🤩
‘Sublime’ , I’m glad I was sitting-down for that . Really touched, Thank you.
i agree that one's own company is the best there is, as long as it's positive
