Notice of absence from arqios
an absence of Presence conjures Absenceβ¦
an absence of Presence conjures Absenceβ¦
At eventide, lights twinkle
in the cold night, families gather
the warmth of home envelops.
Children's laughter echoes through the halls
gifts placed beneath the evergreen sentinel.
The table set, a feast awaits
rich aromas of roasted meats and spiced wine.
Faces aglow with anticipation
stories shared, traditions honoured.
In this moment, love’s essence crystallises
the spirit of giving, a tangible presence
binding hearts in unspoken harmony.

- Comment from author about the poem: This does not reflect every Christmas story and it sometimes is insane how many aspire to it even if we all do Christmas differently, which is okay and the way it should be. How is Christmas at yours and how has it changed over the years?

Very nice Cryptic we all look back to the past and tradition as a sense of comfort and home. Christmas is no different. Very nice
And tomorrow it will be back to regular programming! I guess this is so for most. I love the idea of comfort and a homey feel. We moved a lot when I was younger and so the sense of home wasn't always a known commodity. So for me Christmas was a way to approximate that. Thanks so much. Hope you are having a good one this year.
Good write A.
Glad you think so O, thanks kindly.
Unfortunately the spirit of Christmas has changed, in the street It's lost a lot of its glow, literally.
What people do in their homes is private.
So true!
I think it is a beautiful poem and helps to imagine, enjoyed the read
Thank you ππ»
You are very welcome
Indeed, some things remain the same other traditions have changed. But in my mind it is funny how it is sometimes hard to differentiate from what was and what is, unless I intentionally stop to reminisce . But those changes we often take for granted as if it was always that way, but it was not. Not sure if that makes sense, but your poem sparked that realization. Wonderful job my friend! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Makes total sense, man! An apt reflection, makes me self-examine as well. Welcome and thank you ππ»

Thanks Thad ππ» Hope you had a blessed Christmas π and may you have a happy New Year π₯³
This is how it used to be but unfortunately those who brought the families together at Christmas are no longer with us.
Andy
True that Andy. And the baton hasnβt been grasped nor the torch carried along. Thanks for being an integral part of my poetry this whole year, well the part of it that I was able to be present here at MPS, anyway. ππ»

We had a beautiful day, continuing with the traditions I learned from my parents and grandparents. Our home was central to the gathering of family. Nice to get the different generations together. Well aware this isnβt the case for everyone. Hope your day was super arqios. We had Christmas glow. Hope you did too. Lovely poem. Thanks.
Small victories are better than none. Gathered what and whom we could and had a fine time with those present. Fragmentation is a reality we are learning to navigate better. βSo this is Christmasβ¦.β Thanks kindly ππ»
great write O.
Thanks Cedrick ππ»
Nice One. Iβd like to spend a Christmas in a Christmas Advert, a table straining under all that food and plenty of everything. But itβs not all like that isnβt it. I had a quiet one with family, in the real world.
Hope yours was good.
Same, quiet and intimate. Nothing like the adverts. Perhaps once in a lifetime just to set the imagined to the real. Thanks kindly ππ»ππ» And have a great new yearβs!
Yes and a Happy New Year to you.
