Night dressed in sparkling light
A velvet sequined gown surrounds
A glowing smiling face
Whispers blown from a lost voice past
A sultry kiss of a siren breeze
Memories echo from a shadowy grave
Covered in a soft dark blanket of time
Where the dirt of years
Covers a casket of rotting fears
Watered with golden tears
Molten light pouring from sunrise

The night has always been a mistress like the Lady of the Lake to me, outside my childhood bedroom window was this huge avocado tree on the crest of a hill that always figured in the moments just before sleep as the Night smiled and saw me off to sleep.

Extraordinary imagery I saw it all, wow sorrenbarret you have out done your own poetry with this one, profound beauty. I am truly lucky that I see the magic of night most evenings here in Tuscany, I remember the first time I ever looked up at the sky at night, I almost fell over it was so beautiful 🌹

Thank you so much for your read and most kind words. They are deeply appreciated, my friend.
Wonderful poem. The night is both alluring and mysterious...capturing both our sense of adventure as well as danger. The two, as I see it, go hand in hand. In fact, there is much danger in life itself...and sometimes, truthfully, we are in most danger when we think we have things fully in view...in the light. The night, and darkness itself, keeps us grounded in how vulnerable we truly are...and that in, and of itself, can be very beautiful. Anyway, all musings coming forth out of reading a truly remarkable poem, Soren. Well, done! 🌹👏 Easy fave!
Thank you so much, Tristan. Your comments are valued and deeply appreciated.
