Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

My wife peers out of the curtains
It’s snowed, she says.
For children that’s a day of fun,
snowball fights, sliding, sledging
and building snowmen.
Outside the world appears to be a
magical landscape
like Narnia.
If the snow had fallen in December
it would have
felt festive,
a Yuletide backdrop,
a Christmas card scene.
In the drudgery of January
it just feels bloody cold.
A man walking his black Labrador
struggles to stay upright,
as his hound pulls him onward
like a sled-dog.
A car skids on the ice
back wheels spinning.

A picture of winter painted in words that I remember from my younger years before moving to warmer climes. Nicely worded it brings back memories of colder days.
Thanks a lot for your comments, Soren. Really appreciated. The first week of the year has been a cold one in the UK.
Very accurate about how it is received at different times of the year, enjoyed the read
Yes, it occurred to me that if we would have had snow in December it would have seemed festive. In January, it is just cold. Thanks for your comments.
You are very welcome
Yes, it has been so cold this new year in the UK. The novelty of pretty soon wears off when the conditions get dangerous. Fun for kids, concerning for adults. Much enjoyed Tom. We have sun today and the temp is above freezing π
Oh yes, the novelty soon wore off. π It looks very nice from inside but treacherous if you need to go anywhere. Glad to be back to normal this week. Thanks for your comments.
I remember the first time I lived in a snowy location in January, wondering how could we start the year with such frigid conditions! This poem captures it all and moreβ¦ ππ»ππ»π
Yes, it really made the first week back after the holidays rather tricky. Thanks for your comments. Appreciated.
Be warm, keep safe. Oh and enjoy the stuff that this climate brings, if you canβ¦ thatβs what kept me sane. All the best! ππ»ππ»π
You paint a perfect picture os what I see outside my window today. I don't even feel like trudging through the snow on my deck to fill the bird feeder. It is the January Blues, and you capture it so well. Good write!
Yes, in December the landscape would have seemed festive. Just seems bleak now. Thanks a lot for your comments, Bella.
