Your shadow has not faded though you are no longer here
A footprint that remains clear though it has been more than a year
Time's bell, cast fossilized memories, echoes with chimes sublime
Word of Atum by Thoth chiseled, hieroglyphic rhyme
Fertilized seed of verse sprouted under your shade
From scorching sun this tree protector in blazing critics' glade
Casting off its shell, emerging from its pod
Vestil virgin in temple unshod, naked before their god

Thank you for reading and your kind comment. One must not forget help received from those that have left
Dearest sorrenbarret L.B Mek, is all over my early work he is such a legend always the gentleman and his poetry on a par of extinction always, he did say he was going away but he never left, of course we all have busy lives and boy is he missed, a true inspirational poet, and today you share your beautiful poetry with us entitled his name. So very gracious and thoughtful. Hopefully he may have ran off into the sunset with his soulmate πΉ
Thank you Teddy. Every once in a while one meets someone that inspires them, encourages them even when their work is not up to par. One who can see potential and takes time to help a novice gives their expertise freely. These are not easily forgotten
Absolutely agree with you dear friend. πΉ
These are one of those poems where a lot can go over your head. From a rookie to now seems like L.B was a great mentor
Was indeed. Thank you so much for the read and comment
I do remember L. B. Mek. In fact, I was going over one of my poems from back in 2023 and read a comment he left, which made me wonder what had happened to him. I had not been as active then as I am now. Anyway, this is a very fitting and heartfelt tribute to someone who was always a very supportive, kind soul and an extremely talented poet. Well done, my friend! πΉπ
