Wind Chime Tree

Cassie58

this hilltop climb

steeper than expected

slower walking an aging

canine

breathless

with each step taken

that grassy plateau nearer

dusted in overnight frosting

white winter bites hard

swallows on the tongue

sadness of four years passing

lingers on a pathway paused

to listen to the tinkle

of wind chimes carried

carried on a breeze of swift

sweeping

sweeping across our valley

weeping in remembrance of

a young vibrant life

last breath lost to youths

to a steel blade ambush

hotheads of stupidity

Olly Stevens RIP age 13 🌹

This poem carries with it the reader. Very well written it pulls the reader up that hill and in its exertion left panting. There is a sense of loss, loyalty to a memory, sadness over stupidity all cast in the perfect image of a snow frosted mount. A sumit climbed to end here. Full of metaphor this poem leaves a haunting feeling and sense of emptiness.

Thank you sorenbarrett for sharing your thoughts. You are very much appreciated. Have a happy Wednesday.

Heartbreaking πŸ’” knives have always been a problem, just seems to be worse now a days to lose a life at any age is unacceptable but as I myself have an almost 12 year old son, this churns my inside 🌹 a truly magnificent piece, should be shared in schools. πŸ’œ

Dear Teddy, children killing children. What a terrible state of affairs. When it happens on your own doorstep so to speak, it makes the whole thing even more shocking. The three perpetrators are paying the price for it, but they will eventually be freed. The parents of Olly have a life sentence. Thank you for your thoughts. πŸ’œπŸŒΉ

        • Teddy.15

Yes a life sentence for any parent who.loses a child but also in such a cruel way. Cassie, I truly am grateful I don't live in the UK at this moment. I am so sad to say it too. 🌹 Sending loads of love and good vibes to your street and to Ollie's parents and family. ❀️

Heart rending, where peace and tragedy connect; in essence, the dog and the hilltop climb provide a physical and emotional landscape in which the deeper narrative of loss, memory, and reflection unfolds, enriching this poem's overall impact.

          • Cassie58

Dear arqios, thank you for your thoughts. Children killing children is a difficult topic to comprehend. A local situation, makes it even more shocking. Have a great Wednesday.

Oh my. RIP Olly. Why does stupidity have to carry such a weighty cost? Human violence, displayed at such a young age. I looked up Olly's story and it is such a terrible tragedy that kids/humans would do that to another kid, and for what reason? Senseless stupidity, callous evil. Both...and the result is a beautiful life and soul taken from this world. Wonderful poem, Cassie. Thank you for sharing his memory with us all. His story deserves to be heard.

            • Cassie58

Thank you for looking Olly up to find out more about his story. A local tragedy, which makes it even more shocking. I appreciate your thoughts Tristen. Thank you so much. Have a happy Wednesday.

'Wind chime tree'----- wonderful, heart touching where peace and sorrow meets. Loss is the reflection of the poem. This poem leaves us astounded.
I could feel and sense the poem. I appreciate your magnificent work in this poem!
The poignant incident of Olly left me sad and a sense of loss overpowered me at an instant.
I myself lost my dear father at a very tender and young age of six, and can understand the situation of Olly's parents.
These atrocities on young children must be stopped. Olly's story should be shared in schools beside moral education.
Last but not the least, I enjoyed your poems truly. Hope to read more of your poems in the coming days!
