Heaving Mountains on Still Days
When time lapses
into a single
collapsed moment ..
And the world
stands cautious for
a microsecond ..
I might find myself
wondering
if any of these small,
smooth, polished
stones and pebbles
you once gave to me
are likely to
ripple any less when
tossed into some
vast ocean than let’s
just say, their much
greater counterparts,
in some iconic
fountain or another
somewhere ..
Not to mention all
these huge and much
heavier mountains,
I am still left here to wield ..

Good write N. Saving ink on the dots ".." not "..." ? I thought 3 dots was an ellipsis. Well, it saves you the energy, typing up 2 dots each time instead of 3. I'm using energy by talking rubbish here - a lot of hot air from me! lol.
Thanks Orchidee ..
Aghh the two dots again!
The splash is different indeed, and a lot of the time they don’t even need to try… the flick of their lashes send ripples, say to the tune of $40M or so… I hear it quite a small club… I guess I’m stuck with my small pile of pebbles here…much to squander about.
that's BIG when compared and subsequently measured against my handful of sand .. many thanks for checking in arqios .. Neville
Welcome N 👍🏻🕊️
Deeply philosophical and metaphoric this poem poses the question of relativity. How big is big and how small is small. Where is the dividing line between infinity and zero in the physical world and between good and evil or love and hate in the moral and emotional. I have fallen into the pit of your poem and now ask if intentions enter into this in that the pebbles were given and the mountains were not. (or were they?) Very thought provoking Neville
transparency is so last year .. but it feels good that you can see write through me my fine literary friend .. thank you no end .. Neville
I have always tried to believe some mountains can be moved, i hope that will be case. Enjoyed the read poetically
Just keep on believing .. poetically .. Neville
Heaving mountains sounds like terribly heavy work, my friend! Still days, for me, seem incredibly painful too! LOL! So heaving mountains on still days, no bueno! That is unless you are atlas, and then a mountain is nothing compared to what you lift! 🤣 All daft banter aside, I truly love this poem my friend. Very thought-provoking, indeed. Thoroughly enjoyed, Neville! ❤️🙏
Persistence is the key .. Thanks for the love .. muchly appreciated .. Neville
Indeed, it is! You're welcome, my friend!
Nicely done, Neville. A fine write with some great imagery.
Many thanks Tom .. I couldn't ask for more sir .. Neville
Those mountains will become smaller as you leave parts of them in the path of your life that you are walking Neville so that life will be easier in time.
Andy
I may have a way to go yet but thanks for pointing me in the write direction sir Finch .. Neville
