all thinkers great and small

arqios

Notice of absence from arqios
an absence of Presence conjures Absenceโ€ฆ

Great minds conjure grand designs,
whilst sipping wine with flair,
they ponder futures far and bright,
ideas that soar in air.

But when the day turns into night,
their whispers start to stray,
from theories grand to gossip small,
and trivial matters sway.

Average minds recount the news,
of events both near and far,
they gather round with eager ears,
to share each rising star.

Yet, when the chatter starts to lull,
their focus shifts anew,
from worldly happenings to neighbour’s tales,
and scandals soon ensue.

Small minds revel in the dirt,
of lives they do not know,
they dish on every detail,
in an endless, noisy show.

But in the quiet of their thoughts,
they dream of heights unseen,
and ponder questions vast and deep,
in moments in between.

So here we find our merry lot,
in circles great and small,
each mind a mix of grand and low,
each rises and does fall.

For in the end, we’re all the same,
both lofty and mundane,
great minds may dream of distant lands,
but small minds roam the plain.

Beautifully shows our thoughts and how our minds are connected, a great poem!

Our minds think of so many things arqios both important and silly but as long as the mind accepts all life is fine.

        Andy

        • arqios

Yes, I always love you perspective on things, Andy, and how you freely and enthusiastically share them. Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Good write A. Some say 'Thinking? Ooh, that's dangerous, if you only have 3 brain cells' (like me?) lol.
Or 'What you doing thinking?; that's rare of you! heehee.

          • arqios

Also the saying: โ€œstop that stinking thinking!โ€ Or โ€œoverthinking!โ€ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Cryptic I have to say you have written a few really wonderful poems but this one I think is one of the best if not the best. It has the meter and flow, the rhyme, and most important of all the topic and complete circular construction of it that makes the thought complete. This one is not only worthy of publiction but cries out for it. It makes an old poet jealous.

            • arqios

And they arenโ€™t the easiest to churn either, at least, I donโ€™t feel so. So much to consider, at times like traversing egg shells. Thanks for the generous words which I always value. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

A good, thought-provoking poem! A child prodigy can be a chess champion at age 8, beating fully grown men! Capablanca was such! But away from the chess board, he was happy to play with his toys! We are all more complex than we may realise! An enjoyable poem!

              • arqios

Now thereโ€™s an excellent case study in point! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•ŠThank you so much for your insightful response ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

You express so well how no one is purely great or small. You capture human nature beautifully๐Ÿ˜Š Enjoy the read!

Ah the freshness of sight and heart, love that review. Thanks for cutting through that proverbial cheese with such unceremonious finesse ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

I love the interactions in this poem between the minds and how related they all are. Being of the small mind myself, i have always been happy to not have a great mind, because those who are gifted in that way have some madness / lunacy that comes with it, and quite often are not nice people. Really enjoyable and interesting poem.

                    • arqios

Same here, of the more smallish variety here, been told all my life that I was never gonna be anything brilliant - so I try to push at my bounds and seek to grow at every opportunity that comes my way. Thank you kindly ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

The ever lasting fight that i also have to prove the bastards wrong, and you have clearly done that, enjoy the rest of your day

You too! And letโ€™s continue breaking their curse ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

                        • Tristan Robert Lange

This doesn't ruffle my feathers, then again, I am as feathered as a vulture's head...lol! That out there, this is profoundly true, first off. In this, I read people who are mindful of all the good and ill in the world, people who even point fingers at the world's woes, yet are small minded in their own lives within their microcosm...gossiping, tearing others down. All of that, of course, contributes to the microcosmic turmoil in the world. If this ruffles feathers, that bird might want to realize its own reflection! Beyond that, this poem is quite musical/lyrical and was very pleasant to read, a fine contrast to its content. Bravo, dear poet and friend! ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‘

Perhaps because it talks about peopleโ€™s thinking process and that can be a sensitive issue(?) thatโ€™s what initially struck me, however that may be a less founded thought ykwim ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š๏ธthank you as always โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

You are most welcome. I do think you are right that it could ruffle some feathers, but so be it if it does. Also to correct myself above:

*All of that, of course, contributes to the macrocosmic turmoil in the world.

Again, a most wonderful write, my friend.
