watch sunbeams play on water
with laughter in their eyes
remember little children
the ones that don’t survive
my arms reach out to hug them
too soon those moments gone
a cloud has drifted in the way
and blocked out all the sun

Superb. What's so exquisite about this delicate little number whose weighty essence is heavier than its delicacy is how adroitly the simile flips to the painful reality. Gorgeously rendered with excellent imagery and a hard-hitting poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing. Reminds me of what my late mother said about my "baby"/ youngest brother...after miscarrying the pregnancy before him she'd begged the LORD to give her just one more baby to hold in her arms. Thank you again.
Dear Missy, thank you so much for your very lovely response and for sharing your own very sad family loss. 💜
such sad moments surely .. those that last a lifetime .. or indeed, more
very sad moments you never forget the loss no matter what the circumstances , thank you Neville 💜
A poem of sadness with such a sense of longing for what might have been. Difficult to read. Great write Cassie it moved the emotions
Thank you kindly sorenbarrett 💜
Such a beautifully heartbreaking poem, Cassie. It's so sad when we lose anyone, let alone children. This reminds me of the awful gun violence epidemic in my country and the countless kids who get slaughtered at schools due to it. No matter what the circumstances of this poem are, the loss of children is tragically painful. Well done in this expression, dearest poet. ❤️🌹👏
Thank you so much Tristen for your thoughtful and lovely review. Have a great Friday.
You're welcome, Cassie. You too!
A sad world we live in. The little ones everywhere helpless because of adults who are themselves caught in a conflict between wisdom and noise. Perhaps poetry can help.
Thank you Thoughtless. Your response is far from thoughtless and I thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts.
Hold the memories dear Cassie. 🌹😊

Loosing a child for any reason is devastating I know first hand and I saw my mother lose a son. From the celebration of birth to the dark side of losing a babe. I truly saw this in your magnificent imagery your arms and all. Kudos. 🌹 Your title is perfect, moments well they certainly are. 💜
Thank you dear Teddy and for sharing
the loss experienced by your own family. A sad write but that is where the muse wanted me to go. Have a beautiful weekend dear friend. 🌹💜
I remember reading in a Joseph Campbell book about a god pictured shedding tears as the universe comes into being.
I treasure the sunbeams play on water.
A beautiful poem, Cassie.

Starts with sunbeams and laughter, then so sad. I guess all too often life is like that. Nicely done.
