The new day came,
A day where I was taken away,
Taken away into rugby’s world.
The Six Nations was back,
As it is every year.
Six countries playing the game,
The game that I love watching
And on this first day I saw them,
Saw all three matches.
France verses Wales,
Scotland against Italy,
Ireland verses England.
There I was in my chair
Watching them all
As I am a rugby nut
And have been watching them,
Watching them forever
From my time as a young boy
And still to this time,
As a very old man.
The game intrigues me
And always will do.
So roll on next weekend
When another three matches,
Matches will come for me to enjoy.

- Comment from author about the poem: I have been watching the Six Nations (formerly the Five Nations before Italy joined 25 years go) for as long as I can remember, I can still remember some of the golden moments back in the 1970s. I have also watched the Rugby World Cup, in each tournament there are 48 matches and for the last three tournaments I have watch every match, they come every 4 years.

I should think so! We have our own version of it if I recall correctly, from 1996-2011 the trinations rugby cup AU-NZ-SA. Later on Argentina joined in.
now that's a game for proper fella's innit .. I can hardly wait myself ..
It certainly is Neville and the camaraderie within the game and the fanbase is wonderful.

Most interesting how sport can interest a man of any age. It has been so from time immemorial. I am no different and love to watch the competition in most all sports. A fun read my friend and may next weeks games be as enjoyabe
Very true soren, thank you for your fine words.
