Ants

sorenbarrett

Tender leaves chewed away by ravaging hordes
flourishing growth cut as plunder taken
leaving naked only vines and chords
Monuments now relics, tumbled forsaken

Waves on legs a never ending tide
No prisoners taken by a pirate god
Stripped and raped the countryside
Skeletal remains where they've trod

Shadows of all are black a mirror reflection
of their similarity to ours, a violent predilection
Their homes and cities they build
on cleared ground of those they've killed

Watching ant docos on nature channels have had me in awe of these creatures and put me off being anywhere near them but they literally surround us. Something underneath this poem says so much! 🙏🏻🕊

Thanks for the read Cryptic I am amazed at how much like them we are as a species.

Yes we are , thankfully minus the bone crunching pincers and 40 times less the lifting strength. Imagine!

Amazing creatures to watch. Hard working and they have incredible strength. They can move mountains by comparison to us. I reckon they could teach us a trick or two. Very well composed and enjoyed sorenbarrett.

I remember a certain author saying that ants are a fallen race.

Ants are very clever insects soren, to see them walk in lines one behind the other is fascinating.
