Knowledge No more

David Wakeling

I will not have knowledge anymore,
I want to feel something.
The books about me are my enemies.
They laugh at me throwing facts like stones.

I want to feel something.
I want to walk into the sea up to my neck.
My heart wants to beat in time with the tides.
Don’t tell me the Truth; it is a Monster to me now.
I want to let a butterfly land on my nose and I want to giggle.

Take those theories from great men and burn them.
For me they are doors to oblivion.
Let me stand in the pouring rain with my arms outstretched and let me laugh.

Oh let me rest with music in my ears,
That I might not ever understand anything.
God, this world just wants to know love for the first time.

The dichotomy of thought and emotion displayed here in a soliloquy that is moving. This indeed seems more emotive than cognitive in nature and it appears that the author has achieve his goal. In this world it seems that there is less of the emotive and more of the logical that goes with technology in a modern world.

Exactly.Life is so often an obsession with knowledge rather than feeling something. Thanks for you valued critique

A poem of feeling. We don’t feel enough. Nothing better than feeling at one with nature, it lends itself to freedom. The books can wait. A time and place for everything. Much enjoyed David.
