Beautiful Morning

Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I do return sometimes... occasionally...

Oh, what a beautiful mornin'!

Oh, what a beautiful day!

I got a beautiful feelin'

Ev'erythin's goin' my way.

Used clothin’ as high as an elephant’s eye,

An' it looks like it's climbin’ clear up to the sky.

But the Lines are standin’ like empty,

But the Lines are standin’ like empty.

It’s bright blue up there as no clouds ride by,

Plus a large warmin’ sun is shinin’ her eye.

The washin’ machine sounds are like music,

The washin’ machine sounds are like music.

While piles of grubby clothes get refreshed you see,

Since rain here for weeks has been preventin’ me.

Oh, what a beautiful mornin'!

Oh, what a beautiful day!

I got a beautiful felin'

Ev'erythin's goin' my way.

Oh, what a beautiful day!

Lived in Oklahoma once for a few years and you haven't missed much. As for the rain I have had it as well and for us that don't get into the modern technology of a dryer it means piles of dirty cloths. Remember that tune as well and glad that your heart and pen are singing again, it seemed like a long dry spell between the rain storms. So glad to read it Dave.

Thanks Soren. I resist dryers and keep my nerve. Used when laundromats were my only option. Clothes always either over or under cooked and when under not enough coin. They were communal with shot filters and other’s fluff. Your input here shows you aren’t slowing down. Good luck as you pull way ahead.

Hey Dave! It’s been a while, good to see you around. Just ended a shift and I’m at the keys 📱 while waiting for my ride home. Our washing machine was out of balance today and traveled halfway across the laundry area😂

Top loader? While I wouldn’t have any other, mine requires very thoughtful loadin’, otherwise it leaps around and tries to mount the porcelain….. 🤣Thanks for the support, mate.

        • arqios

Yup. We moved back from frontloader by a string of circumstances… thoughtful loading has not kicked in as yet… the beast actually has house bricks in its balancing mechanism! Lol

It was beautiful - until I turned up! lol.

Just about to hang you out to dry.......🙃

What a great uplifting way to start the week, enjoyed the read

Thanks for that - precisely the way I felt.

                You are very welcome

Got the song reference right away. Never been to Oklahoma either and, truthfully, no reason to! LOL! That could change one day, though, who knows. 🤷‍♂️ Well done on this. Thoroughly enjoyed. 🌹

Thanks for your visit, Tristan - I enjoyed fiddling around with it.

Loved that musical Dave. Monday wash day. Get that washing out on the line to dry. Singing as you do your chores. Way to go. Dusting next. Got your duster ready? Happy new week.

With you there, Cassie. Saw the movie as a kid, and the tunes stayed in my head for weeks. Always had an affection for the memory.
As for the lyrics, I know nothing of formal grammar, can hardly identify a verb from a noun, but detest words with an -ing suffix. This was a gift and a chance to give the -ings an amputation… I hope your week goes well too…..aa-choo..

                    • Cassie58

                      Watch that dust Dave 🙂

If we hung the laundry out this morning it would be frozen solid by noon. Sometimes, we just have to use the dryer. As for Oklahoma. Haven't missed it. The state not the musical. Hope you're feeling better. - Phil A

Frozen? Aaah! I might whinge and whine about temperature, humidity and rain... but I'm in no mood for some cryonics.....

Strangely I have just put this song on my poem for today Dave.

You're too fun, you know that?! I did love the song, though I've yet to watch the musical, kick me. This is downright fun and so gorgeously rendered with nigh exquisite imagery and a humorous poignancy, I love it! Thank you, thank you for sharing.
