Not to be confused

sorenbarrett

Passion a cat that howls in the black of night
A bird on the wing, as a siren does sing but never comes back
A raising bloom that wilts to die
The lost echo of a sigh

Love, a mother's touch the kiss of an angel
An eye that discerns unspoken need
The dog that lays at your feet
A gentle wave that, in its parting, accepts you as you are

Beloved, more important than oneself
When all desire is focused on an other's needs
To sell one's soul for an other's redemption
And gladly, in place of who is loved, one bleeds

I'm always confused - part (only part) of my trouble here; It's why I opt for plain speakin'. That having been said, I got enough out of this, your current contribution, to make it worth while for me. Enjoyed and endorsed, in particular, your final stanza, Soren.

    • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Dave your words are always valued and I'll be checking to see if there is a new poem that has come from your pen, I have felt its absence.

Sometimes we can turn our lives upside down for forgiveness
To sell ones soul for another's redemption.

And sometimes we can tear our souls apart just to help, just to have a door slam shut

Another magnificent poem full of reflections now I am. Wonderful dear sorrenbarret 🌹

      • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Teddy for the read and comments they are always appreciated. Yes love is not a two way street and it matters not if the door is slammed love remains regardless and independent of the other's actions.

        • Teddy.15

Absolutely because love is, it all! ❀️

Thanks Cryptic that is true not that the two can't go together but usually do not remain together.

                    • Tristan Robert Lange

Ah...the distance between passion and love. Sometimes not so distant, other times they couldn't be further a part and, as your title suggests, the two (while they can coexist) they are not the same thing. It's a wise poem indeed. Well done, my friend! πŸŒΉπŸ‘

                      • sorenbarrett

Thank you so much Tristan I am glad that you got the message and yes the two can and do coexist but usually not for lor long and soon part ways. Your words mean a great deal

                      • Friendship

Beautifully crafted, Soren, your poem masterfully explores the intricate tapestry of love and passion, juxtaposing the raw, turbulent emotions of desire and affection against the nurturing, selfless essence of love. It illuminates how love can embody both joy and sacrifice, underscoring the vital importance of mutual care and the profound, lasting impact of loving relationships. Love is a profound word in the human language to me, as it encompasses a vast array of emotions, meanings, and experiences. You seem to be expressing the depth of human emotion, highlighting the transformative sacrifices made in the name of love. Soren, Is there truly a human being who comprehends the profound meaning of love? As we mature, we believe we understand, but in reality, we do not. The complexity of that word is indeed multifaceted. Cause it does for me.

This is lovely, passion only exists for a temporary time, I find. But love, may falter, never dies.

If it is love it doesn't die in my definition. Thanks so much for the read and comment.

Three beautiful stanzas representing three takes on love. The passion may not last but the love you feel for another stays in your heart. When you feel it, you know it. It is unmistaken. And beloved is the strongest love of all. When you sacrifice everything to save the other. When you put their needs above your own. Lovely.

There is a longing that is palpable in this, perhaps to hear the voices of those who have passed, to see their smile and feel their touch. Maybe a love that never was.
