Definition of a Poet

M.E.M.

A poet is only as good

as their definition of poetry,

Not merely words spun into gold

but whispers caught from oceans deep.

In the shadows of the night,

Where silence dares to step

It weaves its song

Verse by verse,

on fragile beams of light.

It shapes the ether with each line

Bringing vivid color to life,

where sorrow aches and love shouts,

This is a world where both joy and pain belong.

A heart that beats out of rhythm

Sees the beauty within a fractured world.

Understanding that time is fleeting

but the lost can still find a home

in these words.

Do not simply read the words

but feel the pulse of life behind the ink,

For when a poet’s voice is heard

We turn our thoughts inward to think.

A poet is only as good as their word

Giving voice to what the heart speaks

To the shadows and rays of light

And to silent moments we all keep.

So true that our thoughts and expectations shape our writing and one can not write what one does not understand. A very poignant piece. Lovely

Absolutely true, our words are moulded from within us and in some way personally connected to the author's thoughts and feelings, making each piece of poetry unique as each person is, enjoyed the read
