True story (to be or not to be)

sorenbarrett

My boss, a psychiatrist, once said to me
"If you don't know where you're going
you'll end up where you don't want to be"
It was good advice, and he was right
He came out of the closet and his married bed
Lived his off hours as a transvestite
Then put a bullet through his head

🀣 amusing and true how we live for standards for others and not for ourselves, I could have told you that, and I'm not even a psychiatrist. Sorry he felt the need to die for who he really was though 🌹

Thank you Teddy, you got the message that he couldn't grasp. Appreciate the read and comment as always

A read I could relate to, if only because it contained no detectable (by me) metaphor, Soren.
Chock full of irony, though. Great fun as a result.

Thank you my friend appreciate your review and words. Waiting for another of your gems.

              • Doggerel Dave

Keep waiting. Vacuum where the gem should be right now.

Only under pressure do diamonds form

                  • Doggerel Dave

Too much metaphor there, mate............ too much pressure produces in me an equal and opposite reaction....πŸ™ƒ (lol)

Wow that was shocking. Being different is still difficult despite all the so called freedom we enjoy these days. A powerful expose

                    • sorenbarrett

Thank you David for the read and words they are most important to me. Yes he was such a nice guy and always most kind to me although he ranted at everyone else. Miss him.

Everyone has things hidden away, every therapist I ever saw when i was younger had more issues than me, I often wondered if they chose the profession they did because they could not control their own lives, so took control of others, a good read

                            • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much for the read and comment my friend. Yes I have been asked that question too as a psychologist and have had to ask it of myself but due to my own blindness answered no.

And - Erm, if we don't know where we're going, e.g, on the No.7 bus, how will we know when we've got there?! lol.

Sometimes what might appear funny or odd is neither is it .. I have personally known a handful of colleagues who went down the self same route & no kidding ..

                                        • Tristan Robert Lange

A wonderful write, my friend. A piece that feels humorous on the surface, but beneath that is a cautionary and tragic tale of someone who could not learn to love and accept himself. As one such person who struggles in this regard, I take this poem to heart. Thank you my friend! πŸŒΉπŸ‘
