Canned expression

sorenbarrett

Bottled sunbeams, packaged wind, a thunder cloud to the sky pinned
Have you ever hugged a wave or tied up a laugh it to save?
Something's lost holding water in a sieve, what does it feel like to give?
Ink feelings, written word, touching paper, meaning's blurred
Distilling emotions into ink, where meaning's lost making this drink

I know there's canned laughter on some - so-called - comedy shows. Doh!
I wondered why I wasn't getting anywhere, using a sieve to try to fill a bottle with water. (heehee).

    • sorenbarrett

Yea you got it Orchi that canned laughter is about as fresh as the food you give KP. Hey thanks for the read and comment it is highly appreciated. Keep trying with that sieve you'll get it sooner or later you just have to move fast enough.

Thanks so much for your support it is most important. Yes tis true and some poems come very close to the impossible. Those are the ones cherished most and closest to the heart.

The futility of it all, no? But still, here we are and here we keep plodding along. Indeed, some days my expressions seem far more canned than others, but they're always canned. Except when I write poetry. Nothing canned about that, which is why I love the artform. So freeing. Anywho, well done on this my friend. It got me thinking and therefore it gets a fave.

So true, Soren. Oh to have fresh grown, fresh cooked, real or raw… but there is something so nourishing about something genuine, real, and heartfelt. Wonderfully written piece. Thank you!
